    Bait Boards

Hey Guys, Got a new boat coming in a few weeks and want to get a custom bait board done, ideally stainless (to match the boat grab rails etc) with shelving/storage etc. Looked at baitmate they look OK but want something custom built. Does anyone know someone in the business? Adam

  3. Yeh mate staying at the lakeside caravan park. Luckily not heading down for another fortnight so hopefully will miss the bushfires by then. Can anyone shed light on other fisheries in that area that may be worth a go? Have never been to Ulladulla area, any info on that area would be great.
  4. Gday Fishraiders, I am heading down for a weeks camping at lake conjola to meet up with some relos and am wondering if anyone can give a report on how the lake has been fishing. I have never been there and am hearing stories of it being no longer opened to tidal flow from the ocean through the channel? I will have my tinnie with me so any local info would be great, can anyone reccomend any other areas worth a try down around that way. Like I said I have never been here so anything will be great. Mainly SP fishing. Cheers Youngy

It was basically a sealed deal until numbers fell so if If anyone is interested (serious) in joining myself and a few others to share costs etc please email me for more details. I am hoping to go basically asap. (aug-sep) I have spoken to a few people, all highly reccomended this mob and i think i'm onto a winner. Thanks, Adam adamyoung555@hotmail.com

  12. Gday all, finally after a few solid months of waitin for the perfect buy picked up a 4yo Hornet trophy 435 from the goldy a few weeks back. Its got everything on it i'd ever want and is in perfect shape (less than 50hours on etec 40) and not a mark on it. Just a question for anyone else who has a boat like this and uses the fwd holding tanks? I want to use the most fwd one as an esky, it has the drain plug but it just empties straight into the bottom of the hull. does anyone just let it drain out like this or has anyone pulled the floor up and put in a drain hose? and if so where did you run the hose to? I just pulled half of the floor up and it looks like i'd have to take the whole tub out of the front to do so (no big deal) just wonderng if anyones dicked around with it before? Cheers, Youngy. And heres a pic of the thing, and yes, i am in love.
  13. ANY info on Mariner 50Hp Four Strokes?? I have always had yamaha. All good? Cheers
  14. Hey Guys i recently sold my boat and am heading to a more estaury/river/newy harbour fishing boat and have been focussed on getting a Quintrex Hornet, preferably with a console. I stumbled acrosss a Bermuda 430 Mangrove Pro on BoatPoint.com and am close to giving it the thumbs up but am unsure on whether it would handle the same/as good as the Quintrex Hornets due to a few differences in Bow shape. If anybody who is more clued up on this topic then i am wants to give me some peace of mind or personal opinions about Bermudas that'd be great. If you can source a pic of a hornet of similar size and compare it to the pics of these Bermuda Mangrove Pro's online and give me some feedback that's be tops. Also, as i am newish to attatching Minn Kotas to boats, would one easily be fitted to this one. Anyone who owns or has owned a Bermuda and wants to throw an opinion at me, shoot. Cheers, Youngy P.S ANY info on Mariner 50Hp Four Strokes?? I have always had yamaha. All good?
  15. If you dont mind me asking Diver, where ya been picking up your flatties? I managed a feed a fortnight ago drifting the channel and another two bigger ones the weeken d after, one off coal point in less then a mtr of water and the other - 80cm jobby off valentine on some structure the sounder picked up, any info would be tops mate, your not wrong there is a few around, these next few weeks will only get better, i can feel it in the air lol As for that Mtr plus fish your young bloke dropped, go with the Jew idea mate, i too dropped a largish jeweyish looking specimen on the same day - 6 poound braid with 8pd leader, felt like nothing until i seen it then byebye
  16. I rencently got back from a "work trip" in the NT, worked through the week and smashed up the fishing over the weekends. (6 weekends in total). By far the best charter/guide we had was a bloke aT Yellow Waters in Kakadu NP, yellow waters is a billabong that not only holds alot of barra but some great scenery. The fellas name was Dean jackson and he was not only spot on with getting us onto some barra - 20 between the three of us in a little under 5 hours but was a wealth of knowledge about fishing altogether and a top bloke. He only ever takes up to 4 out at a time and has a wicked custom made fishing boat. He has lived up there for many years and knows the ins and outs of charter fishing in the NT. You can reach Cooinda Lodge on 08 8979 0145, thats the resort he lives on - a stones throw from the Billabong and an awesome place to stay. Cheers Adam, As for The best deep sea fishing charter i went on - Arafura bluewater is the go, i went on 4 and they killed it.
  17. thanks cfd, wind has kept me inshore of late but definitely will get out when i can. Say there is wind hammering one side of a breakwall, will the wind have a bad affect on the likelihood of getting live bait there, in the windy choppy crap? would the presence of livebait be hindered by wind or is it just whoevers ontop of the water in a boat its going to annoy.
  18. Hey guys and girls, i have never been serious about fishing through the cooler months and am interseted if fresh squid can still be caught for bait, also the availability of yakka/slimys etc. The place i went through summer that never failed me with livies has not had any around it the last few weekends so i'm questioning whether the cooler months see them dissapear? If this is the case is it also the case for squid? Also anbody who's familiar with fishing newcastle harbour and can help me out by pointing me in the direction of live bait hotspots and places to find squid would be great, im hoping to spend a night on thne boat this weekend out for a jew so anybody who can give some pointers for jewfish around that area would be tops. And i spose anybody who wants to come out, bait my rods, sit there, strike, fight the fish, kill it, fillet it theen feed it to me that's be good also.. just kidding, feels a bit that way sometimes though. Cheers guys
  19. Hey diver, were you fishing the lake or the channel, i fished in the lake this morning with no result. Good to seee there is flathead to be caught with these cooler water temps. Fished hexham dropover this sfternoon and the water was 11 degrees, i knew the fish would be hard to fire up and they were, caught nothing. Any info on where your pickin up the flats in the lake would be tops.
  20. Thanks for the replies, get on the plane at 7am tomo morning, cant wait to get up there, hopefully have some decent reports when i get back in a month. Cheers, Youngy
  21. Hey everyone, just wanted to find out info on whats a decent rod to stop a barra in its tracks. I'm heading up north on monday for 6 weeks for work and will definitely have some time to chase fish....barra-fish. I went and bought a Ian Miller Barra Raider but had to return it as it was a one peice rod and i became aware that we will be travelling on a smaller plane up there so had to exchange it for a two peice. I chose the Shimano Ian Miller Dam raider over the Barra mauler as a swap, it has a line class of 3-8kgs and seems pretty decent, its slightly "lighter" looking then the mauler. I'll be using an ambassaduer 6500.C4 Baitcaster reel with 20pd braid and 40-50pd leader. I've basically only fished for flathead and bream with a lighter spinning rod, and caught small jewies, kingies and snapper on a heavier ugly stick with4500 Shimano baitrunner. This rod "seems" light and i'm a bit puzzled as to what these rods are capable of, especiallyu when were talking the so-called premieer sportsfish, i've never fished for the mighty barra before and was told by the dude at the tackleshop the lighter-ish rod will allow for a longer lure throw on a smaller lure, perfectly understandable but Will it turn a barra round? Anyone who has used the Dam raider or can help me with some rod tech-talk would be awesome. Also any stories from fishing spots/action up around katherine and darwin would be sweet.. By the way, barra will not be my only target, bring on the black jew...
  22. nice little jew mate, well done.
  23. Got a phonecall this morning to see if i wanted to join a crew at work to head up to tindal, south of Darwin for 4-6 weeks to do some maintenance on a jet. My head nearly exploded, what a chance to get some serious fishing done up there, from what i've read and heard it goes off. We will be staying near katherine and darwin will be few hours up the road so weekends will be charter-full. Anyone ever been to katherine and knows what fishing is available there? I'll be taking a few rods and reels up and would like to know what Lb braid is decent for tackling a barra, i'll be using a Abu ambassadeur wilth 15pound braid on it, the rod i was using with that reel recently passed away in to door of a "special" mates car, reccomend a rod for this reel? Cheers, some serious pictures will be gettin posted in a month or so, i hope.
  24. Cheers for the Bday Wishes. 22 years... gettin old.
