  1. Mate while you are there have a trip with <charter name removed>, deep sea.

If you go on the full day trip you will be guaranteed a great variety of good fish. Cheers.

  2. Three Wednesdays in a row have yielded a feed of flathead ,plus plenty of other species using mainly prawns and a couple of large squid.

Yesterday kept 4 flatties and put back about 10 flathead plus flounder, whiting, tailor, small shovel nose and was bitten off by what was probably a small hammerhead chasing the trawlers.

Despite the trawlers going either side ,the outgoing drift was productive and worth a go.

Looked a bit doubtful at Akuna Bay but day fined up and it was pleasant on the water.

Any day fishing beats any day doing anything else.

  3. Spent day drifting front of Barrenjoey across river mouth to Lion Island until wind came up and blew us off the water.

Headed inside and found a sheltered cove along from Flint and Steel.

Landed a feed of flathead but the trawlers were busy and I suspect were stirring the fish up and they were few and far between.

Finished day in Coal and Candle creek, with plenty of bites and small snapper but nothing worth keeping.

Its great to be on the water but sometimes its also great to get amongst some kings or big surface fish.

  4. To Alasdair hang in there brother.

I fish many times and a reel is not turned. I have spent more money and time then you would believe.

I still keep going for the love of it.

You never know what the next trip will bring.

I fish on a 7.5metre sailfish but still go fishing with Glen and Ross Hunter for one reason.

    Why you ask.

    Grand Slam of marlin.

22 marlin in 3 days not including the ones dropped.

280kg blue marlin hooked of Sydney.

7 yellow fin in one day all over 65kg.

To many yellow fin 35kg to 60kg to remember.

That many kingfish, dolphin fish, snapper etc to mention.

Keep going and they will come.

    Regards The Human Winch.

(PS My hands look like the elephant man holding that yellow fin in the above photos.)

I,ll bacK Gamerod alias the Human Winch .Fishing with Roscoe and Glen is fishing with the real pro.I was part of the Grandslam and have been spoilt for a lifetime. If the fish were there everytime it would be called Catching not fishing so sit back chill out and await that almighty cry of "we are on" it will happen .Hey Winch your hands are ok but I don,t know about The Boos porno mo.bit scary for a man who eats fish eyes.Hope to get on board soon and get amongst them.I have attached some photos of the Grandslam to keep you all inspired.Gaz

  5. Having gone through a week or two of pretty patchy fishing I am pleased that the show has brightened up on the full moon and the stripes are back We caught 6 yesterday and should have caught 10 having dropped a few on skippers. Billfisher caught 6 as did Scott on Freedom We fished the top end oF the Mosh pit . I had the thrill of driving Chris Herbert's 54 foot Berty Absolute. What a great boat to catch a swag of marlin from, especially in the 25 knot nor easter. We steamed back, beam on into the conditions at 19 knots , very comfotable indeed I am getting to like these big boats, sort of getting spoilt. We caught the majority on live baits and skipped bonito . Our tally is now around 75 marlin released for the stay.

Last week we worked in close and whilst we did catch a couple, it was steady going but the fish are back out wide so it's back to the Pt Stephens we love

    Ross and Glenn Hunter

I have put up a report on www.gamefishingcharters.com.au for those interested.

Good to see they are back

  6. :05:

Well the fishing has stayed reliable without being at its sparkling best. Both Glenn and myself are feeling a little battle weary from the long days and big seas , especially yesterday.( 25 knots and 3 metres) Luckily I was on the Maritimo 55 and that took some of the pain out of it.

We have now caught 55 marlin for the stay, best day 8 worst day none, we will have the place back to ourselves soon with all the boats leaving after the Interclub, so it will be great to be able to work a bait patch without the crowds.

The winning team in the Interclub was Newcastle Pt Stephens with 18 marlin tagged.... Winning Individual boat Gorilla skippered by my great friend Brett Thomas with 7 marlin over the three days Luke Fallon too on Kekoa also caught 7 but was relegated on a countback.

We caught 4 ( one out of time)and saw a few more I did find that after driving Broady for 20 years the big boat took some settling into, but it's back on my dear old girl Broadbill for the rest of the season and that will be nice .

I will miss putting the hammers down and calling on the 2000hp to get me home in 40 minutes but alas it was a wonderful experience to skipper the big Maritimo for the last couple of weeks. Something I will treasure for along time.

    Hi Roscoe

What a shame the fish aren,t about.

    Well done Ross and Glen,

In the last 3 years you have have given me fishing of a life time.

Including a Gram Slam and a tag and release of Marlin of 22 marlin in 3 days,

Also yellow fin and albacore and a 300kg blue marlin.

Look forward to a great day out again soon.

    The Winch.

    hey Winch

Lucky we aren,y there at the present.Hope the fish turn up soon.Gaz

  7. You guys have now experienced what real fishing with the Hunters is like.I had an experience with Ross last year when we GRAND SLAMMED and caught 16 marlin over 2 days.We fished a few days before you this year, but the weather was against us and the fish were scarce. It is truly a great experience fishing with Ross and Glenn and I have been doing that for some years now.I would suggest to any one who wants to go game fishing the Hunters are the team to do it with. If there are fish there they will find them if they are not well it is called fishing not catching ,so you can,t get them everytime you go after them.

Me and the Maroubra boys have a day up our sleeve due to the bad weather and when we get back out there we will send in the photos, hopefully lots of them.
