  1. Hi Mossy, think you might find those are actually salmon not tailor. Still not great eating though. Nice catch.
  2. Time did fly, but it was reassuring to see that "real music" still has a place in this world, even with the young kids who were at the show. He showed he was still the boss.
  3. Hi Ryder, If I remember correctly it was called "The Ripper". Enjoyed a bottle of it myself. Awesome concert. They also do another red called the cracker. Cheers
  4. This is the 42cm form the double header
  5. [attachment=57671:P8280452.JPG Hi all, With the bass season back upon us I decided it was time to chase the bass in the Hawkesbury near my place in Windsor. This time of the year can be a little hit and miss and you need to move around and search some times over a few days to locate fish. My mate Michael and I and his brother hit the river long before sunrise but struggled to find fish early. Once the sun came up we had a few short takes until Michael and Chris both managed fish in the 39cm to 40cm bracket on surface lures but after that they shut down on the surface. We changed to sub surface offerings and found the fish in the mood for Jackalls fished erratically. The fish were wide spread and took some finding but there was enough action to keep us interested. We were lucky enough to land about 15 fish between us between 35cm and 42cm. The highlight for me came when I hooked a solid fish and during the fight it felt like the fish swam through a tree or some branches. I became concerned until the fight changed a bit and then up popped not one, but two bass on the one Jackall, a 32cm and a 42cm fork length fish, now that was a first for me. All in all a great morning and nice to catch some bass again after a winter hiatus. Roll on summer.
  6. Hey Mike, Thanks for all of the text messages through the morning along with the photos. Here was I entertaining a tribe of kids and you're sending me photos of the kings your catching, not nice. Well done on the great fish. Erwin.
  7. This is the 40cm and the tackle box's top draw. Some of the lures there are $40 with others ranging between $30 and $35.
  8. Managed to get out onto the Hawksbury on Thursday for a paddle before work hoping to find an early season bass. I managed to land 2 at 35cm and one at 40cm in a couple of hours as well as missing numerous surface hits. All in all a good morning. Best catch for the day though was returning to my launch site to discover someone had left a plano tackle box behind. When I opened the box I discover approximately $600 worth of prime imported lures inside, and there were only 30 lures in the box. Being a dedicated bass angler I know how I would feel if I had lost these lures so I made it my mission that day to find the owner and return them. Impossible you may think, well, a long story short, I did track down the owner by asking some questions at the only tackle store I know who carries these types of lures. By 7pm on the same day the very very appreciative person in question had his tackle box back, with all lures present and accounted for, much to his relief. He wasn't even aware he had left the lures behind the night before. So Luke, make sure you pack everything next time mate and enjoy the great lures, and thanks for the case of beer. Still a little early for full on bass action but a nice primer before the weed takes over.
  9. Hi Rod, The guides name is Lenny from NT Sport Fishing and his mobile number is 0418 321 148. He only uses the mobile number as he is out on the water a fair bit. I can't recommend him enough, fantastic bloke, down to earth and he knows his stuff. He also helps out another guide who works out of Crab Claw Island, which is in Bynoe Hbr, and this is also where he launches from. Lenny has all the gear, flys, quality fly rods and reels as well as spin gear if necessary. If you use him you will have a ball. Good luck. Erwin.
  10. Thanks for compliment. I have to admit it is one of my favourite fishing destinations now as well. If this is the sort of fishing you have when it's slow due to bad tides I would love to fish it on good tides. Might have to organise my next business trip around suitable tides.
  11. Hi all, Well I finally worked out how to attach the photos from my trip so figured I might as well try and put them up.
  12. Hi Raiders, Newish member, first report. I just returned from a business trip to Darwin which I managed to squeeze a days fishing into. Having organised a guide to take me sight fly fishing for Barra at Crab Claw Island, Bynoe Harbour the preceeding weeks were hard to take. Lenny picked me up from my hotel at 5.45am for the 1.5 hour drive to Bynoe. During the trip Lenny explained the tides weren't great but what can you when you only have one day available. Anyhow to cut a long story short we motored out to the mouth of the harbour to get out of the wind and started seeing barra straight away as well as Threadfin Salmon and Blue Salmon. I ended up landing 4 barra, 2 threadies and a stack of queenies and small Gt's, all on fly. My best Barra went 75cm and was caught in 18 inches of water, exciting stuff. My best Threadie also went 75cm and fought like a demon. Finished the day eating some mud crabs a pro gave us on the water which were fantastic. I can highly recommend the guides and the experience of fishing this location. Can some one tell me how to attach photos please so i can attach a photo of the barra.
