  1. Hi Prawn Star, the fins were yellow when I cought them but the net that I brought to keep them were too rough, they might be bleeding due to that.
  2. Went fishing Friday night at the caravan park, Narrabeen lake. Looking for flathead on live mullet. Started at 9:30 pm. the bites were slow, came one at a tme, usually a lot of undersize fish taking the bait. after 30 mins got my 1st bream at 27cm,then had to wait again another 30 mins got my 2nd fish, 37cm tailor. It was like that all the way. Cought 5 fish and all legal (never before). usually cought a lot of undersize fish there. 2 breams 27cm, 2 tailor 37cm and a moster 39 cm bream that came last about 1 am. didn't catch any flathead at all. my biggest ever bream from Narrabeen. previous record there was 30cm last Nov in front of Woolies near the bridge. PB was 40cm from Roseville bridge 3 years ago. Looking at the photo, it makes the 27cm breams look very small.
  3. I also use the same method as Burleyguts, the folded triangle prevent the mullet escaping. I cut out lots of small holes around the container and few at the bottom as well. the reason is that I use 30lb fishing lines to tie the trap and throw from the shore and I don't have to step into the water. With added weight and holes for water to enter, the trap will set itself. What I found best is that the water level above the trap opening only 3 to 6 inches is the best. Once I got more than 100 mullets in a 2 litre container packed, (size about 10 to 12 cm), I can't believe it myself.
  4. Hi all fishraiders, I went there again Saturday 4 pm. cought few poddy mullet from there as the bait. cought 1st undersize snapper, then quiet for a while. Then got few bites and then 3 legal breams , 1st- 27cm, 2nd - 33cm, and 3rd - 29cm. At least I got my revenge
  5. Do you agree with me that bream is the smartest fish. At lunch today, I stopped at Roseville bridge (2:00pm). I just bought fried rice from a thai shop, so I threw a bit of it in the water. To my surprise, few fish started to get excited. More fish then coming to check. I can say easily 30+ breams, and lots of mullet and garfish. even I saw 3 small rat swiming through fast ( may be 30-40cm) There were some good size bream, at least 5 were more than legal there, at least 2 were 30-35 cm. I've been there many times, but never see this before. I stopped eating my lunch, got back to the car took my rod.(always have a rod with few lures in the car). Tried poppers, blades, everything I got..none interested, but they still stay around there. The sound when the big one took the food make me excited. I got some bread with me thinking to use them, but no hook at all. Search around and found one on the ground, I think size 1/0. put the bread on, no sinker at all. By now, there were too many mullet around. Lost few bait then a hook up, small about 22cm bream. Why I say they are smart is that after I cought and released that 1st fish, there was not more bream around, all gone. They really learn fast. only mullet and garfish were still there. I threw some bread, only mullet taking it, the bream are really gone. And to catch them on lure or plastic is very tricky. The timing, colour, how to flick and so on must be right, or else these breams will never even check. very smart. Not like flathead, or tailor, almost anything goes, they'll take anything. p/s - will go there again with better bait
  6. Hi all, I have been a member for sometime but this is my 1st post and definitely won't be the last. Thanks to all who shared the tips to improve my fishing. I am still new with lure fishing, SP or Hard Body. I have been trying surface lures without much success except this small mullet 15 cm long. I would appreciate some advise on surface lures for breams and Flatheads.
