  1. Cam,

There should be a template amongst the paperwork with your sounder.

Using the template and instructions from the owners manual should give you the right positioning and all the answers you are looking for.

If you dont have these, you should be able to locate a downloadable version of the manual and template on the Navman website. You just have to find the sounder you have and there should be something there for you to print and use.

Once you have these, you should find it pretty easy to fix up.

    Cheers mate

  3. Mate, once you get your routine worked out everything usually goes pretty smooth no matter what size boat you are launching. I now have a 5.5m Ally Craft and although havnt had to launch solo yet, I know it wont be a problem to do. Also from my experience people are only too willing to help out if they are waiting to use the ramp and see somebody alone loading their boat on or off the trailer. Its usually the people that dont consider others when using ramps that get people offside, like parking on the ramp THEN loading the boat and undoing straps etc.

    It's all about confidence.

  4. Line capacity is gonna be your main worry Roffo.

One screaming run from one of the bigger fish which everybody seems to be getting

and your going to be left with a naked baitrunner mate..

  5. Hey guys,

Methodman, myself and the boys all stay in Hat head together each February

and we use the ramp down there aswell, We prefer to use the Hat head Creek ramp

instead of crossing the huge Bar at SWR.

Fish Rock and Black Rock is about half way between Hat Head Creek and South West Rocks.

I think its about 8-9 K's straight across from the creek.

The Cobe was around the 25 kilo mark. felt every bit of 105 Kilos when i was trying

to gaff the bugger and lift it into the boat. A bigger Gaff would have helped enormously!!

We had a ball up there and I cant wait to get there again.

Meth should have the last of the video up soon, including out-takes.

Glad your all enjoying them, cos it was a lot of fun making it.

    Cheers guys

  6. Hey Guys,

I can vouch for Meth here when i say this is a good watch, well, I can say that cos I'm actually in it.

I think its something everyone can enjoy and relate too. We certainly arent Pro fisho's by any means as you will see, we just have fun fishing. and we managed to jag a couple of good fish doing it.

We put a bit of work into it, as Meth said mostly for a laugh and a visual Diary of our yearly trip shared by four mates. at first it was just for us but a lot of people have seen it now and loved it. and a lot of copies have been made here and there. would love to hear peoples thoughts on our adventures when it is up.

    Cheers guys

  7. Hi Ceph,

I had the same problem as you a few weeks back and asked the same questions on here aswell.

a few people pointed me towards an auto electrician. My local one had no problems at all rewiring my lights, bilge pump, bait tank and switch panels for me.

    Hope that helps,

    Cheers

  8. Chewsta your mates are registered as associate members of the Australian volunteers coastguard association and yes you fill out a form with all your details which they keep on a national computer. I think last year was 30 dollars but I think dollars well spent for all the work these people do for free. Here is the link http://www.coastguard.com.au/membership.html just click on the Membership enquiry form and all you have to do is fill in your details and they will get in contact with you

    Cheers

Thanks Dorado, thats great info there.

It's definitely money well spent isn't it.

    cheers mate.

  10. As your leaving go onto VHF 16 or 27Mhz 88 and call for the coastguard, the coast guard will then direct you to another channell where you can log your trip with them...

Also get an epirb.....for the money they are awesome

    Thanks Netic,

    Much appreciated mate,

I do have all the safety gear and boat requirements covered including an epirb.

was wondering more about the registration with the coastguard.

I know some friends are registered with the Shoalhaven Coastguard and they had to mail in personal details such as car rego, phone numbers, home address etc, kind of like a membership.

So I was more interested in that side of it all for the Sydney areas and if it was required or just log in as youve mentioned.

  11. For those (like myself) who may not be aware of who to register with or contact for your own personal safety

when going offshore, can those in the know please help out or point me in the right direction.

Who should i reigister with and what is involved in registering with the coastguard etc

    (donations, registration fee's)?

I fish out of Sydney and surrounding areas but usually head out with other people that have always taken care of these things, now I will be doing this out of my own boat I wont be heading out without notifying the right people. So would like as much info as possible on the right procedures please.

    Thanks for any help guys

    Allen.

  12. Hi Bob,

I was just interested in the types of rods you are running these reels over mate,

are the rods rollered and if so is there any issue at all with the braid running over and catching in the rollers at all?

Ide imagine braid pulling that type of weight up from a few hundred metres wouldnt be too good for normal guides.

    Cheers mate

  13. Thanks again Huey,

Im going to have a look around tonight anyway,

so if i dont have any luck then I'll get in touch with you mate.

    Cheers

  14. Hi guys,

Can anybody tell me where I could get XD100 oil, in the Penrith area please.

other than that im not sure where to look first.

    Thanks guys

  15. Hi David,

mate my legs are still itching, not as bad as they were but still pretty annoying.

Just wanted to reply to your other post aswell from the Gamefishing Section.

thought ide add it in here so we didnt Hijack the thread over there completely.

I do remember seeing you guys aswell as the blue and white boat, you guys headed off together just infront of us aswell. small world hey.

We headed south to the Drum and Drumsticks earlier for some kings on the smaller slimies that we had, the bigger 20-30cm slimies we had down were untouched except one brief encounter with a seal, dont know how they dont hook themselves but they are bloody good at it.

We then trolled skirts down to the fad off the front of Jervis Bay, out a little wider and back up to where we eventually ran into you guys. saw no action on the fad but scored a dollie off a floating log on the way back up.

saw a few others jumping and chasing the lures around some fish traps but no takes. We also scored two stripeys but they dont count.

Wasnt it a great day out there though!!!

I probably know the area about aswell as you do mate, but Nathan(methodman) is the other guy i was with at the time, His family is from down that way so he can probably help you more than i can.

I know he'll see this post sooner or later and add his two cents, and probably give me some grief while he's at it.

Hope the legs are feeling better mate, I know mine arent...

    Allen.

  16. Hi Roffo,

Just a suggestion mate but if your after a reel of those dimensions, the Spheros is another option, its built with an Aluminium body so its also perfect for jigging for kings. I think they retail for around the same price as the baitrunner too. I have the 14000 with the upgraded bearings and handle and cant fault it. I use it mostly for live baiting and jigging but the faster retrieve makes bottom bashing a bit easier too.

    Cheers

    Allen
