G'day all , well lets just say that at least the time away from Orange was relaxing , but as far as the fishing went , well it was a non event . The wind was blowing like a bastard and throwing plastics was just too much hard work and no fun , plus off the beach it was strong winds and strong rips caught a couple of tailor but nothing to write home about , i will return to the lake though , it is a pleasant place to visit.

Hey there LUMPOOKY , Gav here . Whereabouts can i get a copy of that DVD , i never tire of info that will bring me closer to my nemesis the Jewfish . I was wondering as well to some of you experienced Jewfisho's that would it be all possible to maybe come on down to the bigsmoke in 2009 and go out on a fishing trip with one or a couple of ya's . Hey there BTK thats a nice bag of fish . Every time i go to the coast , the beach rod comes along as i like nothing better late in the arvo or at night being on a beach watching a couple of bronzed whalers , having a cold one and nailing a couple of fish , well done.

G'day all , i will be staying at redhead beach caravan park , so its only 8k's to Swansea . Hey Mitch i will give those areas a shot , maybe some of those sand flats will be really good as high tide is around 1:30pm on Saturday , with maybe a touch of cloud cover , the fish might bite a bit more freely , but hopefully no wind , as i really want to have a crack at Whiting on surface poppers.

G'day there fellow fisho's , i am heading up to the lake this weekend for a few nights, hoping to get some surface action on some of the resident whiting that inhabit the lake. I guess bream and the odd flathead are not out of the question either. I will be hitting Nine mile beach , Blacksmiths and of course the Lake , i will be landbased so have any of you got some advice on how to tackle the fish. Cheers from Gav.

Glad to see you guys liked the pics , and Pete i have had a close encounter with lightning before , on the beach , i near shat so i too did the bolt and left the rod there in the sand spike until the storm cleared. Hey there Hooked4life, i didn't use any filters . But it was taken with a Canon S1is , and the lightning pics as well. Its not an SLR but if you experiment a bit you can take some cool shots. I take the film SLR with me as well and use the digital to get the right settings ( after some mucking around ) and then put the same settings to my SLR and take a nice pic. Hey Mitch, The Snow was thick as bricks here on Thursday mate, i went to Bathurst for a drive and on the way back we got hammered by Snow. We only just got home and they shut the Highway some 10 mins after , bloody close call cause the road was still shut untill the following morning, The papers delivered from Sydney had to sent Via Mudgee to Orange. A truck passed me and i sat up his ass , 20 k's to travell and we were doing 30-40 kmh. post your pics i'll have a look, Cheers guy's from Gav.

G'day there everyone, i am planning on a fishing trip in the next lot of School holidays with the missus and the kids. I was wondering if any of you had ever fished the lake and to also let you know i will be land based,although i will probably hire one of the many canoes available from Joalah caravan park right where the lake enters the sea, advice on beach and lake fishing there would be great. Hey there Steve i will be coming down that way on Tuesday the 6th for 3 nights to fish the beaches around that way, i might give Budgewoi beach a try for a jewie and maybe even down your way as well, depends on where the tailor are thick i guess, i will give freddy's fishing world a tingle and see what happens from there.

G'day all' just a quick queery as to who has and uses soft plastics for jewfish and other species off the beach.and what length and type of plastic would be a good starting place.Cheers from Gav.

G'day there mate, i would use a running sinker rig, the same as you would for bream, whiting and flathead etc, make the leader about 8-12 pound, which should cover you for those timidly biting fish and also should you hook-up on a good fish allow the line not to bust off in a hurry if you come into contact with a rock or three. Wyangala can turn it on sometimes, and like previous comments made to your post, the lure fishing can become quite hot when the barometre is on the rise, and at the same time bait at this time of year is another great option. Some good areas to try are near the main kiosk itself for bait fishing, just follow the road past the kiosk heading across the island (head east ) and pick an area that has some rocky formation or headland as natives love to hang out on these spots for both cover and food, but also remember to fish as light as possible as bites can be timid at this time of year as the weather starts to cool. Another option to try if you have a boat is to find some trees ( in the water of course ) and use some of the gulp wiggle tails 3inch in watermelon colour drop them to the bottom and then slow wind them up , and pause for any small bump on the way and be ready for the yella's. Anyway i hope that this info is useful to you as i have fished these waters for a number of years and have caught many a fish there. Cheers from Gavin. And as for the bait then your humble old scrub worm is fine, and yabbies as well.Don;t use those bloody tiger worms ,they are totally useless, take a shrimp trap and bait it with some sunlight or palmolive gold soap ( yes soap ) and if you are lucky enough to catch some shrimp the put 2 on the hook but through the tails and oppose them, why you ask! well if you have one on there they may not move around as much but if you have 2 on the hook they will try and walk away from one another causing more vibration across the bottom. G'day there Nathan, i will recommend one that is very light weight, and is waterproof to 2000mtrs ,it has a hood and everything attached, and also has a pouch in the front of it which in turn stores away in itself, you simply push the jacket from the inside through the little pocket and neatly becomes as small as a little cushion. I use mine for both Bowhunting and fishing, if none of your fishing outlets have these in stock then you may have to visit an outdoors place or an Archery outlet like Benson's Archery at Granville, Hoddywell Archery at Smithfield, or Abby Archery at Castle Hill. I just had a look on google earth and gee wiz it looks the part, i bet those slow sloping beaches have plenty of beach worms on them and those rocks look like a rock fisho's heaven. Thanks for the reply guy's i will let you know when i find out the tides and moon phase as to fish at the best possible times. So i will probably be staying at sheely beach caravan park, i have stayed there a few times now and will be by myself anyway. Anyway's i will keep ya's posted.

G'day there people of the saltwater. I was wondering if this is too early to post, but i am heading to The Entrance for a fish in early may and was wondering if any of you guys , gals would like to come along and maybe even share a helpfull hint or two and maybe even a few beers. I will be land based so beach fishing is my main objective, depending on whats happening in the lake at that particular time. I have been there a few times so i'm partially educated on the area, but as i said i am always up for some fresh ideas. Once a date has been set i will let you know and see if anyone can come along. G'day there cobber, i can tell you that windemere is fishing ok for yella's and the odd cod at the moment, and the most consistent way of catching them is out of a boat either bobbing yabbies or casting those you bueat jackalls around the timber. Though i was there recently and did quite well with yella's to 10lb and cod to about 15lb all from the bank on scrub worms ( milkies) . But be prepared to mix it up a little and you will be rewarded with a golden fish or 2.

Have not tried the improved allbright knot but the opposed uni knot works a dream when connecting braid to mono or flurocarbon etc, i have caught 80lb plus cod and have not had this knot come undone, it is not to bulky as to stop it from passing through the guides and as the knot states that it is opposed, so that the knot continually pulls together - not away from each other. Anyway give them all a try and see for yourself, i will give the improved allbright a go myself. Cheers from Gavin.

To answer your question Roberta , i was lucky enough to extract 3 beach worms on my second attempt with my old boss who is a good beach wormer up at shark bay Illuka , i am not a great wormer but i am learning and have heaps of patience. G'day there guys, as this is my first post on this site, i will try to keep it short. Every year i end up fishing at the Entrance n.s.w and i was wondering if any of you out there could tell me where i can catch beach worms near Tuggerah Beach etc. I was told that the south end of Tuggerah near the mouth of the lake and also the north end towards pelican point and soldiers beach. Can anyone confirm these places, and what type of bait can be pumped out of the lake itself at the Entrance. Thanks guys and once these Rivers clear up this way at Orange in the central west i shall get out there and post some scores on our local Cod. Thanks fellas and cheers for now.
