  1. I got some great kings last night one on a live Taylor and the other on a yakker. But don't just fish with squid because last week I had a live squid out for about 40min and got 7 kings on garfish then took the squid home and ate him to very nice.

The kings I got last night was 90 cm and a 87 cm fishing for Jew .( got no Jews)

  2. they are great fish i was over in nz with 7 mates in feb, and we had a ball. we fished with slipray charters and a very well ran boat, we fished 5 days with over 300 kings on jigs sea bass and countless snapper on bait and plastic, but nothing that fat, but not far off, the biggest king we got was about 15kg and snapper about 6kg. the charter for us cost under 2k each from the time you walked out the front door at home till the time we got home and we all came home with 10kg of snapper fillets each and 6-8kg on the gut, the food on the boat was out of this world...

  3. Gday raiders

went out bright and early this morning from roseville and managed to pick up a few yakkas and slimeys from bantry bay so things were looking ok. No squid as usual but thats a different story. Head to North Head and see it is a carpark as usual. Anyway pick up a couple of small bonnies on the troll and then anchor up near the marker and deploy a couple of livies. Here comes my problem, the way i rig them i just use a running rig with one hook and pin the livie through the nose. I have tried two hook rigs like the sliding snell but they dont seem to let the bait swim as freely. ANyway the problem is that i could not convert one of the many hits i had this morning in to a fish. i left my overhead reels in freespool with the clicker on and when the drag started screaming i would lock it up in to strike drag and the fish would fall off.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to a better way to hook up on the buggers?

one very good thing to do is fish with your drag set at strik (locked up) when the kings hit they hit hard and if they feel resistance they will drop it and there goes another good king.
