  1. Hey lambo Great to see those good results. Bet they were good to eat! I am off to KI in two weeks. Can you please give me some tips as to how to get amongst the fish. Will I go OK landbased?, what bait is best? any hotspots? And how cold was it, I will be camping with my wife, so any info on the weather we can expect will help out. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi Folks I am traveling to Narabeen on the weekend and will be trying off the beach Saturday night. Has anyone had any recent results they can share or techniques i should be using. My plan will be pretty standard. Find a good gutter, two rods (both medium set ups) probably pillies on ganged hooks on one and whatever fresher bait i get on the day on the other. Any tips to make this a potentially more sucessfull trip will be muchly appreciated. Have a great day and thanks for reading.
  3. Hi There Been looking at the Anglapro range of boats. Models like the Bandit and Chaser seem to fit the bill of what I am looking for( 4m general purpose, lake and estury) quite well at a good price. Just wondering if anyone out there knows anything about them. Any help will be much appreciated!
  4. Makes perfect sense Thanks mate
  5. Hi There Maybe one for all the tackle junkies out there. Can someone explain the difference between the 2500 size and the 2506 size for the new Daiwa Caldia? Looking at the specs it seems that they have the same gearing, the 2506 is slightly lighter, but the main difference seems to be that the 2506 model has an "air spool" and 3 kg of drag as opposed to 7kg for the 2500. Why is this so? Do they have specific uses? Thanks
  6. Hi Been doing a bit with soft plastics lately. Mostly with light to very light jigheads. At the moment I am using 6lb fireline the about 1 rod length of vanish monofilament conected with what I think is called a "double". The problem I am having is that when the knot goes through the guides it makes a bit of a noise and seems to shorten the cast. I guess I am still able to cast about 20m or so, but I feel that maybe there is a set up that will cast better. Out of interest I am using a 2-5 kg T Curve and Diawa Tierra 2500 reel. Should I use a different knot, lighter line, swith to a 2- 4kg rod etc. Any help would be much appreciated.
  7. Thanks mate. I think you were spot on. Tried worms, powerbait and celtas for about 4 hours. No bites on the bait, two hits but no hookups on the celtas. Funny thing was that there were lots of rises in the shallows after the boats and wind died down, but not a single touch on our four lines. Keen to try again once the weather cools off. Thanks again.
  8. Hi All Thinking of giving lake Lyell a go this afternoon. Just wondering if anyone has fished there recently, or at this time of year at all? Will there still be a chance of trout given the warm weather? I was also wondering when the trout start to move into the upper reaches to breed. Any information, recent results or tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks all and have a great New Years!
  9. Is targeting leatherjackets as easy as heavy leader/ wire trace, or is there more to it? They are great for a feed!
  10. Dont be sorry mate, I appreciate your reply. In fact you make some good points. Thanks
  11. Hi There I have been doing some beach fishing on the South Coast lately with average results. I have always thought that 2 hours either side of the high is the best time. Even better when this occurs at either sunrise or sunset. Am I right in thinking this? Would the low tide change be productive when beach fishing? Would this also apply to the rocks? Is there such a thing as the "best time" to fish the beach and rocks? Thanks in advance for your opinion.
