  1. Great work Ray, I don't think I have seen a trip of yours that you miss getting a good feed. Great photos again, you're nearly knocking Hodgey of the roost for the best pics. Cheers Mariner
  2. Great photos Ray - are you using macro, or just telephoto? Cheers Carl
  3. Hand held units dont' transmit or receive as well as a properly installed monted unit with the correct aerial. GME units are competitively priced and I have two units that have been operating for a number of years with no complaints. The nature of our business, we also have Icom hand held units model IC-M32, which have also operated for the same duration with only 1 to have become unserviceable. This unit was submerged at a depth greater than the 1 metre maximum specified on the unit. The Icom handheld will set you back at least double the cost of the GME mounted unit. Murphy's law seems to always prevail with anything that is not bolted down in a fishing boat. It will inevitably be dropped, knocked over, or worse still, lost over the side into the water. They don't float very well. There is also the issue of charging the battery and maintaining that charge so as the unit is ready at any time you are to go fishing. Hope this helps Mariner
  4. Good one Ray, nice feed there for a brief session. You always get the goods. Cheers Mariner
  5. What a "Barrel" What line was it caught on Ross?? Obviously needed a full spool in that depth. Great effort Cheers Mariner
  6. Memorable session by the looks of those great specimens. Always fun to be able to catch multitudes of good fighting fish - not to mention their eating quality. I would not have been able to resist throwing a lure or two - with that action on hand. Well done guys - great effort Cheers Mariner

  8. AT 5 MINUTES AND 6 SECONDS AFTER 4 A.M., ON THE 7TH OF AUGUST, THIS YEAR, 2009, THE TIME AND DATE WILL BE: 04:05:06 07-08-09 THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL THE YEAR 3009!!! (I had a deep feeling that you just needed to know this) I trust you have been enlightened Cheers Mariner
  9. Cut the fillets thin (5 to 6mm), melt enough butter (don't burn it), add some cracked pepper, a little salt - you can add ginger and or garlic to suit your taste - cook them for 30 seconds, add fillets, then fry the fillets for 1 minute. Turn and cook for 30 seconds more. Squeeze some fresh lemon, a little garnish and enjoy. My choice for the fillets is definately Mahi Mahi. A nice fruity wine will be a great combination. Cheers Mariner
  10. Definately pay that one Cheers Mariner
  11. G'day Bob, When I had my punt, I cut the back seat on the opposite side to where I sit and welded in a battery box with a perspex lid to run my electric and power my bait pump and sounder. My punt was only 3.6 metres and I installed a wooden (ply) floor. There really wasn't much space to enable under floor storage. I could only suggest to do the same to the front seat for your live bait tank. Only concerns would be your floatation. Maybe you could add some floatation underfloor. I also welded triangular braces to the two back corners. Hope this is of some assistance. Cheers Mariner.
  12. All that I can say is that those statistics are amazing. Could you imagine the wake produced by 100,000 tons at 30 knots. Goodnight sweetheart Cheers Mariner
  13. The USS REAGAN Seeing it next to the Arizona Memorial really puts its size into perspective.... ENORMOUS! BEAUTIFUL! When the Bridge pipes 'Man the Rail' there is a lot of rail to man on this monster: shoulder to shoulder, around 45 acres. Her displacement is about 100,000 tons with full complement. Capability Top speed exceeds 30 knots, powered by two nuclear reactors that can operate for more than 20 years without refuelling 1. Expected to operate in the fleet for about 50 years 2 Carries over 80 combat aircraft 3. Three arresting cables can stop a 28 - ton aircraft going 150 miles per hour in less than 400 feet Size 1. Towers 20 stories above the waterline 2. 1092 feet long; nearly as long as the Empire State Building is tall 3. Flight deck covers 4.5 acres 4. 4 bronze propellers, each 21 feet across, weighing 66,200 pounds 5. 2 rudders, each 29 by 22 feet and weighing 50 tons 6. 4 high speed aircraft elevators, each over 4,000 sq ft capacity 7. Home to about 6,000 Navy personnel 8. Carries enough food and supplies to operate for 90 days 9. 18,150 meals served daily 10. Distillation plants provide 400,000 gallons of fresh water from sea water daily, enough for 2,000 homes 11. 14. When I was a kid and the Lugarno Ferry was in operation, we used to put the puffer fish on the ramp as the ferry was approaching. As its' ramp made contact with the downramp, (and the fully inflated puffer fish), well the pufferfish exploded like a tyre being punctured. It smelled pretty ripe there for a few days after as well - hehehe Cheers Mariner
  15. Nothing like good feed of crabs - good stuff. Cheers Mariner
