if the popper is like 30 gms it will be better on the baitcaster but if the popper is for bream it would be better on the eggbeater

i live in albany wa and at the beaches i have been using my mt8120 with my spheros 14000 and it isnt realy big enough to go over the surf does anyone know the ups and downs for a alvey it would be a 651 c5 or 650 star drag thanks

bait casters arnt as easy to cast and you get birds nests easyer with baitcasters spinning reels arnt as strong since as all the gears for lure if the is large it would be good on a baicaster but on the spinning reel lighter lure are better to cast and use

i went fishing last night on a full moon and got this 14.5kg mulloway on spheros 14000 with 50lb braid off a boat in perth it was caught on 7/0 gamakatsu octupus circle hooks with scaly mackeral baits

i wish i could catch a tuna i have been trying for a while off jettys for bonito and trolling a lot for tuna or mackeral

when you pay more of course your getting a better reel eg more bearings special line laying carbon drag heavy gears .go to shimano and daiwa websites and see what features the reels have

if you can find a shimano tss4 they are graphite and 5;81 ratio waterproof drag etc

has anybody ever used or know any thing about halco max lures and how hard they are to reel in

it was caught in western australia just a bit south of perth

i used scaly mackerals as baits aproximantly 17cm long 2 gamukatsu 6\0 circle snelled with ball sinker #5 on top of the swivel with 60 lb leadler. we caught it just after dark caught on a falling tide. it hit the bait hard good solid run and went deep then it went out far then i pumped and wound and it popped out from under the hull.
Dad done a great job at gaffing it. it bled heaps

mt 8120 is a good beach\rock\spinning rod 5120 has 5 wraps mt8120 has 8 wrap but same length

for rocks the mt8120 is good multi taper 8 wrap 120 inches 10''
reels maybe a shimano spheros and twenty pound mono
