Never mind the jewfish mate, you fry them up in wok on high heat with garlic, chilli, salt, pepper and shallots and THEN your talking business!!! Boring old jews can be caught on plastics and blades. MmMmmmMmMmm ive just made myself hungry Musty
  4. Yeh mate my first stop is always at the tackle shop there, Scotty and the boys are always very helpfull and accurate with information. You've nailed it on the head too! Aside from fishing Wallaga and the Bermi river I was planning to slow troll a livie around the point hopefully for a king or maybe bit of fun on a shark. Do you know of any reefs in close I could do some bottom bashing or snapper fishing on? if you have the time make sure you come on down! What a great part of the world hey. Musty

HA HA HA HA HA!!!!! Cracks me up everytime!!!! Musty
  6. C'MON BJ YOU DONT ASK FOR MUCH! Mate get geoff wilsons book of knots. I have never bothered to learn it coz quite frankly i could never be bothered and fishing with lures 99% of my time its not needed nowadays but my mate did show me a couple of time and basically it was a suicide tied via a normal snell, with another suicide tide onto the main line using an additional length of line, thereby the mainline running through the snell and along the shank of the hook closest to your rod tip. My mate does them with his eyes shut, i just by the gamakatsu 3 packs of ready made non adjustable ones if im after 2 hook rigs which is very rare that i use them. Musty
  7. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=53207&st=0&p=385752&hl=fireworks&fromsearch=1entry385752 From a post from last year, some good advice. Musty
  8. Its probably a long shot but since its not going to cost me anything I'm going to ask/offer anyway! I will be based in Bermagui and fishing Bermi and the surrounding estuaries/lakes etc for the all of next week out of my kayak If anyone is local or heading to the area and wants to catch up for a fish or a beer and bbq send me a msg. Musty
  9. LOL Good thing you only bought the one! Musty
  10. Sounds like you have some major electrolysis issues. Thats some shit service dude Whats the point of buying a new boat under warranty if your going to have to deal with that rubbish... Mate I'd go straight back to the dealer and be firm. Let the issue be known and make it clear that its been that way from the start. If the bloke wants to do right by his customers he will take the time to sort it out and make it right. If not then its to his own detriment. But be firm, the customer must come 1st. If that fails- Ask Huey, his service may not be under warranty, his workshop might not be close by, but from all accounts he will help you, make it right, give sound advice and you'll be looked after. At least you will then have piece of mind. Thats what you want! Musty
  11. Mate i LOVE hearing about schools of leatherjackets!!! If i found them i would be cheering!!!! I'd stock my esky full of the tasty buggers. Its not their fault clowns keep dropping down $20 knife jigs at them and never learn, seriously, if life throws lemons at you... MAKE LEMONADE!!! mmmmm deep fried leatherjackets with cracked pepper and lemon with wedges, Too Good Musty
  12. I think they ALL taste awesome and a big one like that contains "more meat less fat- yummy flathead you cant beat that!" Also, my theory is your better of eating a 1m fish (provided u can appreciate and consume it while fresh) rather than a 60cm fish which will be in its prime of breeding. Fish arnt immortal and a flatty in its extreme limits isnt going to live forever! Enjoy it mate well done. You dont ever see anyone worried about a 1.2m king or a 42cm bream, or a 45cm whiting. So seriously, enough with the media hype, stay within fisheries rules (which have research and stats behind them) and everyone just stay civilised, enjoy fishing and dont hate on one another! Musty
  13. Try selleys sugar soap. Soak it for a while and then give it a bit of a scrub with extra sugar soap and then wash it out. Mould is a difficult one to get rid of. Once you have washed off as much as you can reinstall the canopy while wet as it would have expanded to the right size again. Letting it dry in extreme heat or direct sunlight is what will shrink it again. I had a canvas boat cover and after sitting in the rain and under trees for many years it got mouldy and i found it almost impossible to clean. I used bleach which got a fair bit of it off but thats only coz my next option was throwing it out so i had nothing to lose. Give the sugar soap a crack its what painters use inside houses on mouldy walls and ceilings. Musty
  14. Im no expert but for a boat of that size and weight i'd say the 35hp would struggle to get her up on the plane if the boat is loaded with a few fisho's and gear. On his own it would be no speed machine but would certainly do the job. Within reason, I dont think you can be over powered- better to have some power in reserve rather than work the engines ass off at capacity everytime its being used. But then when $$$ and budget comes into the question it can be a delicate balancing act. Having said that, old mate from Huett marine is into those new budget style outboards which are still backed up by a decent warranty so it might be worth a look. Your mate be able to afford 10-15 extra HP more which would certainly do the job in all conditions. Worth a look. Musty
  15. BJ whats going on mate you another one with a full time sling? I got a guy near me who broke his arm and was put in a sling, that was like 5 years ago! really??? Check out "launch and retrieve boat latch". Just what your after. You can also do a few other things. I used to borrow my mates 5, fibreglass boat sometimes and i would roll back, hit the brakes so it would come off the trailer with a long bow rope attached to the rear ladder rack on my Ute, then i would stop the car once its off, get out, undo the rope, walk the boat around to the pontoon tie off and go park the car and trailer. On retrieving i would simply drive the boat hard up onto the trailer, keep in in gear thrusting forward while i got on the nose hung over the front and hooked the strap up. Might have looked a bit like organised chaos but it worked and faster than two man crews sometimes! For now just with a kayak i just dump it in where ever i want Musty
  16. A garage with a fire truck, car hoists and a scissor lift in it means serious business! Looks like its easily the strongest part of the trailer now! Musty

I've been informed that its closed mate. Musty
  18. Great report mate! I've thought about getting the camera sunnies but my issue with them is the fact that the camera will obviously go where ever my head turns, which means if im after good footage i cant really stay alert and look around or check out any scenery. Do you find you have that issue? Musty

  22. HUH? mate if you stop playing silly buggers and send it off to Daiwa your issues going to be fixed free of charge without any effect on the rest of your warranty. I wouldnt go opening it up yourself unless your experienced and talking about it on the forum wont mysteriously fix the problem. Send it off! In the mean time use other reels and You will have it back as good as new for the new year. Musty
  23. Thats what they were telling me in the tackle shop. Well not quite, i was told 6 weeks roughly but possibly longer. I ended up getting it serviced and returned to me in 4 weeks and the reel is as good as it was when i bought it.
