  1. Thanks for the replies and advice swordfisherman, Was really y happy with the results managed to get a fish in between the rain and did find a few yellas. Slow rolled jackals over the weed beds for about a dozen fish in total, all were realesed to fight another day. Thanks again Knuckle
  2. Hey fellow raiders, Heading up to lake windamere this weekend probably with a few thousand other people and have decided to drag the boat up and have a crack at some freshwater species. Have done a bit of research on catching yellas and jackels seem to be the flavour of the month, im guessing down the rock ledges and over weed beds. As a novice at fresh water can any one give any advice on any lures or areas I should target? Anyone used plastics with success. Im guessing there is a slim chancecof a cod also? Any dvice or tips greatly appreciated Cheers Knuckle
  3. Howdy all, I am looking for some information that you guys may have on a 2002 Bar Crusher 550C, I am looking at purchasing this boat second hand and I am after specs on the model. I have searched the Bar crusher website and forums on this site and similar other but can’t find much on the 550C model. I found alot of useful post on here, one in particular mentioning that the 530C is now the 575C and the 560C is now the 610C, but cant find much on a 550C model I guess what im looking for are specs and ratings on the hull, according to the add its 5.75m overall, does this mean it’s spec'd the same as the current 575 Model? Any help or advice on where to find this info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Knuckle

  6. Dom, was a tough day on Sat mate, we were going to go to longy but the fog held us back was a weird eerie day with all that fog. we were inside Nth head with everyone else in the morning downrigging live yakkas but nothing at all this week which is a shame cause we got some really nice fish there last week. but have heard that a few people got them at nth head a bit later after we left. We went for a look up the harbour and middle head, found a few salmon bonito and tailor around garden island which are always fun on bream gear. Thought there might be some kings mixed in for some switch baiting but could not raise any. Bald one. good effort mate perhaps we should have stayed a bit longer at Nth head what boat are you in? will give a shout out next time if i see you. Massive effort on the squid to mate thats awesome, pm me any tips you have for squid in the harbour will as i really struggle, funny thing is i can get a few land based but struggle in the boat. Cheers Knuckle

Hey Raiders, Being School holidays and being the good uncle that I am, I'm taking my 2 nephews out in the boat for a fish on Thursday. wanted to go in the harbour and chase salmon but big seas and swell have decided to go to Pittwater as one of my nephews lives at Narrabeen. Can anyone suggest any spots where we could Anchor up lay down some berley and see if we can get some Bream or Trevs maybe? I have not done much fishing in Pittwater so any advice appreciated, also does anyone know if there are anny Salmon in Pittwater, which could be fun for the little ones. Cheers Raiders Knuckle

  15. Hey Raiders, After having a crack at these years and years ago with no success, i got motivated again by the recent reports. I set out to find as much info as i could on them, I contacted various members of fishraider for there advice and any tips they were willing to share. To cut a long story short i headed out to waratah bay last Thursday night and along with what seemed like the rest of Sydney anchored up for a long night. Me and a mate managed about 15 mostly small fish with a couple over the 1m mark. I was stoked. All fish were released, gotta say that I didn’t see any other fishos doing which was a shame especially the smaller ones. Anyway i would like to thank the following raiders who freely offered up there advice, GINKO, MROLLO and especially PURE SPIRIT who offered up his mobile number and we had a chat for a while. Thanks again raiders appreciate the advice, if i can return the favour let me know. P.S no photos taken as my hands were too cold to operate the camera, but was well worth it. Cheers Knuckle

  19. Pure spirit, Great post mate enjoyed it, how cold was it out there? What rig to you use for hairtail? if you dont mind me asking, do u lift your baits just off the bottom or leave it on the bottom? Tried years and years ago for no results in many long cold nights. Thanks again for the report. Cheers Knuckle

  22. Hey Guys, Not sure if this is in the right forum or not, But i need some help. Went out the other day to the gps marks that i had for the sydney wave rider bouy but i could not find it! Does anyone know if it has been moved or have they lost it, looked on the manly hydraulic site but its co-ords were from years ago. Any help appreciated, Understand if you dont want to post co-ords on here, you can pm me if easier. Thanks in advance. Knuckle
  23. Tonez, Mate are you talking about a snap swivel straight to the lure? I would not use one especially throwing lures and plastics for Bream and flathead etc, the swivel will affect the lure action badly. I use a leftys loop knot when tying leader to lures, allows the lure to have the correct action. Im sure there is a link here on this site to show you how to tie a leftys loop. Hope this helps. Cheers Knuckle
