  1. I have been able to catch them all year. i go to mccarrs creek wharf and make a burley using tuna oil, bread, canned pilchard and sea water and i mash it with a potato masher until. i also make bait with flour, canned pilchard and tuna oil. i make it into a dough not too soggy. and they go crazy over it. mid winter i have taken over 20 in less then an hour.
  2. recently bought a new shimano jewel spin 682 rod 2-5kg. i have a pfluegar trion???(i think) spin reel on it now but it is suffering from corrosion and it is slowly reaching retirement. so does anyone have any tips on what reel to look at. i am mainly using HB and SP lures on 4-6lb braid. i am not sure of the size of my reel i have now. I am looking for a reel that will keep the setup well balanced and keep it light for continues casting in the 70-150 dollar range. also any opinions on braid will be appreciated. thanks

  7. I have been looking at buying a kayak to go fishing on. I am looking for preferably a two seat kayak(unless this isn't practical??) to fish with my brother in( split costs) we are only young and dont have heaps of money. i have been looking on the net and all i can find are kayaks for min $1300. Money i don't have at the moment and money im not willing to spend even after saving alot of money from work. the max i would be willing to pay is about 800-1000 with most things attached. does anyone know any GOOD cheapish brands to start of with. or does anyone have a kayak they are willing to sell.(single or double). i am not looking at buying at the moment. also if you have a kayak that is worth me looking at buying from store would it be possible for some photos? finally what is everyones opinion on fishfinders on kayak? any tips will be GREAT thanks in advance toby
  8. yer i think. near the pool at narrabeen beach. im not too sure where i was.... all i know is that it was great conditions for fish like tailor and flatheadif you could hit the bottom with the fast moving current. going back for a fish tomorrow afternoon maybe back at the same spot or i might try around woolies bridge or another bridge with some live bait and SP for flathead. any tips??
  9. near caravan park........... im thinking i may have made a mistake?????
  10. I am new to squid fishing and am trying to find some spots to catch squid of any size. i am trying to find a spot and then to practise squid fishing until i confident with it and hopefully be ready for warmer months to try and catch some as live bait for jewfish, kingfish ect. so if you know a spot that is good for catching good live bait sized squid then that would be GREAT. if you do not wish to give away a secret spot openly to everyone please PM me i can keep a secret.................. Toby
  11. went for a fish yesterday with my brother at the mouth of narrabeen lakes for the first time within a few minutes of arriving my brother had hooked onto a decent sized flathead. the flathead measured 40cm. the fishing for us went quite for a bit until about an hour later when my brother got onto another fish. this hit the bait and bolted. it took a lot of line. he managed to get some back on this fish we then spotted the fish splashing just next to the rocks. it had swum up onto the rocks. we quickly netted the fish. It was a 70cm australian salmon caught on bream gear. we later caught another flathead(38cm) which was returned. Narrabeen seemed to be fishing well today. a few people caught other flatheads of legal size and a legal sized tailor was caught. is narrabeen usually this good?? also is the mouth also open at high tide????
  12. just finished fishing narrabeen lake at the mouth came home with a 70cm Aus salmon caught on bream gear
