  1. Hi Guys, The mono out of it's chops is a tag end form a long line hook. Stainless. The hook on the right is ours, a 14/0. The poster has been sent another shot of it looking a little angry at the boat. reelmagic
  2. IT WAS NOT NOT in the comp. , but another day 8mths ago!
  3. Crew of More Charisma, who fished the comp got one mako on saturday and left at 12.30 on Sunday. Also confirmed that these guys know there fish and are excellent at what they do! The sight of such a fish is precious and would be quite overwhelming. We had had only one white (which ended up being hooked), but our estimates were about 14-15 feet with a weight of ???????, but it eat a bait being wound in took off and peeled 250-300m on 24 at sunset before straightening the hook!I will try and find a pic of the 14/0 sea master and post. I can't start to imagine what that thing would have been like. WOW! dale, reel magic
  4. Never a problem.............. lost fish means that they are either around, we raised them, they took a bait or lure and that's the way it is sometimes. Part of what happens! We have 'lost' or not had a good look at fish due to many reasons over the years. eg. the leader that touches the hull when the fish takes one last run in 3m seas, or when the mako gets cut off by (we think) another in the water...... so NOT an issue and see ya soon, dale
  5. Hi Warnie, That's fishin......... 'you can't catch them at home on the lounge! SGFC mako weekend the week! They will be pleased re the mako sightings. cheers.
  6. Yep, we have got the odd albaie often, but just the one /two...... and also expected things to 'go off' or at least pick up a few more. We drop a fish 10-12feet from back of the boat 2nd last trip, couldn't tell if it was a little fin or a little bigger albie???? As to the trip, home. it was a great night, 1/2 moon and at 22knts, just point her in the right direction and press the button! Reelmagic stuff!!!!!!!!!! fantastic night for a change. We will probably start fishing for Makos form now on................ had a good run last year with 21 hook-ups! the biggest tagged about 390+ and biggest weighed 187kgs. regards, dale
  7. We fished in 1100m from 12.00 to 6.00pm last Tuesday. 55kms out sse of browns about 19kms. Great weather and sea conditions. Fished in 18.6 degree water and drifted at 1.2knts to the NNE. Water colour was good, cubed quiet heavily AND didn't turn a reel this time! Picked up a small albacore on a cube a few days earlier.
  8. Monday, most likely. ! dale
  9. As we all know, he's obviously had a very good teacher, and to his credit, he listened, learned and put his knowledge into practice. A great effort !!!!!!!! ......... great stuff! dale
  10. Yep, they do fish late................ and hard.............. that's why he catches the fish! A champion! dale
  11. Very true, BUT the issue of fishing etiquette is raised here, along with "experienced fishos' being mindful off others........ especially for the small boats. The big ones will troll straight at you on across your bow , and it is the little boats that MUST give way!!!!!! They certainly feel that they MORE right to the fish/ fishing spot, than the 'little' boats. That's how it shouldn't be! dale
  12. I you have ever been at the car park, off Port Stephens, you will quickly remember that the bigger DO in fact, charge around backwards 'hooked up' and many do not care who is in the way. You have to have your wits about you, and prepared to move very quickly, even though you have a fish on as well. dale
  13. Its not an issue for us! The first time I have posted anything, as we were in no mans land , very wide very late at night 53 clicks offshore........... came home at 8.00pm Next time, I MIGHT just say we catch a few fish in the ocean. (at best) I really don't care! We fish often and are successful and love game fishing. AND..... we do catch gamefish! Just thought people might be interested, as I have spoken to some great guys of late!
  14. Pretty good estimates and they were very fat! and seen a few!
  15. The little one, the guy in the left corner was trying to keep the other 'at bay' whilst we tender to this one!
  16. Yellowfin caught late sse of browns.
  17. Hi Nic Nac, Heard you out there yesterday............ we collect bait in bait bay nth of the hacking! We have used slimies and yakkies over the last few trips combined with cubes. Worth the trip down IF you are struggling in Botany. ALWAYS consistent here! Use the smaller ones though. Last night we got a 55kg on smaller yakka. The big ones are not hooking up (dropped four using different techniques). We also got a 70kg fin at 6pm last night on a whole pillie whilst fighting the 55lg. Regards, reelmagic
