  1. Hoping for some helpful advise on a fishing trip... I will soon be travelling down to Lake Conjola, in Southern NSW. Have never been or fished their before... Can anyone offer any advise on what can be caught their (Bream, Flathead, Whiting???) Suggested baits & if known any prefered spots (ie: Is it better near the entrance of further inland?) Many thanks.
  2. Welcome Tnk, I am fairly new myself.... Congrats on a good nights fishing - Many reading your post would be very envious of someone catching 3 jews in one night - awesome... Can I ask what you were using for bait - Fresh squid? Whole? Strips? or Live yakkas ? Cheers
  3. Filed up unleaded in Port Hacking at Buraneer Bay Marina Saturday price was $1.89... Filled up unleaded in Port Hacking at Buraneer Bay Marina Saturday price was $1.89...
  4. Thanks for the advice... just to clarrify...Butterflied ? - Does this mean fillets or do you mean just running a knife along the top of the fish from head past dorsel fin to open them up a bit so they flap around? Sorry to ask but am very interested to try your method... thanks
  5. Got out on the river just before dark with my younger brother and picked up some live yakkas to hit a few of the deep holes I know of... Absolutely nothing all night except for an occassion when the rod seemed to bob a little in the holder but no line left the reel even though drag was set really light (I was tucked in under my small canopy trying to stay warm and dry from the southerly buster) so i wound in to check the bait and my live yakka (approx 8 inches long) had been bitten completely in half now leaving a perfect semi circle - only missing my hook by 5 mm Dont know what hit it, but it was enough to keep my out in the southerly for another 3 hours without anything resembling a bite... hope others did better...
  6. That would be great - should be OK now... Will give em a tray.. thks
  7. Thanks... I have never seen garfish in the hacking either... but when I was a very young kid we used to fish for them in the rock pool at Tuncurry and many of the old blokes fishing off the breakwall would buy them off us to use as live baits off the breakwall there at night - never saw them catch anything as we were in bed by then... So know I know it was probably big flathead they were after... Cheers.
  8. Hey jewslayer, I have never fished the Hawksbury for jewfish but I noted in the Fishraider fishing articles they mention some spots and details which may help - I have attached the link - not sure how up to date or if reliable - Good luck and keep safe if drinking heavily on the river (Sorry to preach but when I was in my late teens I lost a good mate in similar circumstances who over indulged and disappeared over the side in the middle of the night... they found his body three days later). http://www.fishraider.com.au/fishing-artic...tch-jewfish.php
  9. Has anyone got some thoughts on which is better - a good size live Potty Mullet V's a live yakka in the Port Hacking(or any other river system) when fishing for big bream & flathead (& possibly Jewies). I always seem to go great on the mullet but not so good on the yakkas - However yakkas seem to be the main live bait everyone talks about -other then squid - but I have all but given up on the squid as I seem to put many many hours in chasing them but barely ever seem to get one - even though I keep spending my cash on expensive japnese jiggs!! many thanks...
