We have tried mono, but there is so much stretch it is very difficult to feel what is going on (even in calm, low current conditions) unless a very large fish moves off with your bait. With braid you can feel a 250gm ocean perch having a nibble on your bait! For me it is braid or I don't bother. Cheers.

Apparently, when the Noreasters blow consistently as they have over the last few weeks it causes an upwelling from the cold deep waters and you get 16 deg on the beach in summer. The EAC is still active so the currents on the shelf are as you would expect - 21 to 26 degs. Cheers

I have been jigging for some years - my 2 cents worth - was out there on the 10th July, had a good look around and saw lots of fish on pinicles but none of them were kings, all rubbish fish. Caught 1 bonito which was great bottom bait. Cheers.
