  1. Thanks for the replies guys! Yes landing this fish did put a big smile on my face cheers Nick
  2. Good day raiders, I caught this Mulloway yesterday morning on a favourite wharf of mine on the Parramatta River on a butterflied yellowtail. The fish picked up the bait at 3.00am and took off like a rocket then stopped for a couple of seconds obviously to swollow the bait. Then it swam off slowly, thats when i tightened the drag and striked. Bang i was hooked on! The fish took about 50 metres of line in its next powerful run. During the fight it was going for shorter but still powerful runs and the fish was making me run up and down the wharf like a mad man. I had no clue what it was and 15 minutes later when i saw a mulloway come out from the darkness in front of the wharf i was like WHAT THE HELL!!! Its funny because i was trying all night to get some yellowtail and tailor for bait with no success, which usually isn't the case, and the only yellowtail i caught that night was the one that got me the jewfish. The bait wasn't in the water for longer then 15 minutes and it got smashed by a Jewfish. Cheers Nick

  7. Last friday night about 8 went for a squid session at a productive wharf i usually go to. Fished all night for squid on and off but nothing. As i was bringing in the live bait at around 5am to leave, i noticed something swimming on the surface. It was a squid so i quickly ran to the car tied my favourite yamashita squid jig on and dropped it right in front of the squid which was swimming in the light. Bang straight away in attacked the jig. Then i went on the other side of the wharf where there where about 8 squid swimming around attacking baitfish. I caught 2 withing a minute again. Went back on the other side of the wharf to catch my final squid for the morning. I left the squid bighting cause i had work at 9am lol. When i got home the squid went straight in the freezer ready for my next jewie session. cheers Nick
  8. Man there are heapsssss of squid up there you just have to go at the right time. Any of the jetties there that have light shining into the water around them is worth a shot.
  9. Went for a night session off one of my favourite wharfs in Hunters Hill. I caught this descent squid on a squid jig right in front of the wharf in the light. There was a school of squid smashing baitfish in and out of the lit up water all night but they were fussy and only managed to get one. I made the trip by myself but i was lucky and met another raider there which was my company for the rest of the night. Had a jewie bait out the whole night but it didnt get touched. As soon as i got home put the squid straight in the freezer. Jewie bait for the next session. cheers nick
  10. Great work man!!! Just wondering what lure you caught the yellowfin on while you were trolling. cheers nick
  11. Went out for a jewie session(landbased) at night the same day i caught the squid. The bloke at my local tackle shop told me about this place near the Gladesville Bridge where he has had success with jewfish nearly every session. Me and a mate fished with mullet and prawns but got no hits at all. We were waiting for the right time to throw the squid strips out because we only had one squid. When the squid baits went out I had a massive hit on one of the baits but then nothing. There was another guy fishing on the right of us who had a good run on a whole squid, but he striked too early and missed the hook-up. The squid came back with the head gone. About half an hour after he left one of the rods started a medium pace run towards the middle of the channel. I fish for jewies on strike drag so the fish got hooked as soon as it picked up the bait. I picked up the rod and applied more pressure. Then a horrible thing happened and the fish swam behind a snag and cut me off. Me and my mate were pretty annoyed because we waited all night for a run like that and we ended up getting busted off but that's fishing. The night was awsome and just getting a run is unreal. I recon it was a jewfish by the way it ran. Anyways next weekend again haha cheers Nick
