  1. Hi catch'n'release, She is a 4.5 metre brooker seaman with a 40hp merc. Just need to start pimping her up a bit so i can start getting into the snapper on plastics on the close reefs. Thats the goal anyway.
  2. Hey Adz, yeah its been a long time mate!!! Ive got a little one on the way so i thought id better get the boat before hand. It would be good to catch up for a fish sometime before xmas when the kingies come out to play
  3. Hi all you fellow Fishraiders, After many years of yearning i have finally purchased my first boat. My brother and I took her down to St georges Basin for her first run as my father-in-law lives there and i get free accomodation. I have not fixed any nav lights yet so it was a latish start of about 7:30am. We started out just putting around to run the engine in and decidded to stop in an area that was a little deep as I had heard of some large flatties being caught recently. It was quite for the first 20 min or so but then i got a decent hit on prawn softie, there were a few short runs but it was mainly just a heavy weight coming up. I told my brother to grab the landing net just as the fish was coming ear the surface, he was so in awe of the size of the fish that he forgot to actually put the net in the water I guidded her into the net only to have him drop her out when he lifted it up, luckly she hel on and we got her in the boat on the second attempt. I think an 82cm flattie was a good way to christen the boat . After that we just moved around and caught a lot of other fish bream, pinkie snapper and more flatties. We even went for a cruise through Sussex Inlet down to the ocean and back. Its beautiful down there. All fish were released safely. Here are a few pics that we took:
  4. Hi Guys the first park was Paringa reserve off Elliot st and the second location was in front of the Le Montage in Iron Cove Creek.
  5. Hi Fellow Raiders, my brother, my cousin and i went for a fish on sunday. High tide was at about 16:30 so we thought we would have a session on bait from about 12:00 and then switch over to plastics just before the high tide. we were fishing from a little park in Balmain and at first there was only little tiddlers coming up but as the tide got higher we started to get a few more solid hits. there was a lot of of undersize whiting coming up then my brother latches on to this little beauty After a few more lost baits and a couple of just legal bream and 2 large blue swimmer crabs coming up on the baits and falling victim to my extendable net, we decided to move down a bit further and try our luck with plastics. i had my mind set on landing a nice bream and the other two were after flatties. About a hour into it my cousin has about 5 flatties to his name but only one keeper and my brother has 2 undersize ones to his name. then finally my perserverance pays off with a thumper bream Another smaller model bream and flattie was also landed by myself about 10 mins later and then we packed up and headed home. All up a great day on the water with family. Cheers
  6. Thank heaps for the heads up:) I already have a 4000 size reel thats matched with the viper for the larger fish. but im just worried that a 4000 is too big for the voodoo and it wont balance very well. i might have to go with a light 3000 size for that little bit extra in drag pressure.
  7. Thanks Slinky, bias or not any feedback from some of the wise fishemen on this site is great to hear If i get a spare spool with the TDR i will put sinking line on one and normal braid on the other that way i can get a good idea of what suits me best. What line class or weight would you recomend? the rod is a 4-6kg rating but Nitro always understate their rods! Thanks for the info
  8. Hi fellow Raiders, I am about to purchase a Nitro Voodoo and match it with a Daiwa tdr 2500 size reel for Snapper on plastics. My fist question, do you think this is a good setup for snapper out of sydney and surrounds? Second question, ive heard a lot about Platypus sinking braid and was wondering if anyone had used it and if theres a better alternative? thanks for any help in advance. Tight lines to all
  9. Hi fishraiders, sorry for the late reply, the fish were caught at the end of cobitty rd. theres an open space there that you can park but the fishing area is very limited. I wouldnt fish with more than 2 people there as it would be too crowded.
  10. Hi Bass_beginner, any info would be great, even if i have to buy it!
  11. Hi fellow Fishraiders, I need some help in locating some green weed for my blackfish fishing. I live near campbelltown and would love to fish the Georges River for blackies but cannot for the life of me locate any green weed for bait. I have found some down at lake illawarra but it is too far for me to travel sometimes so I need somewhere along the Georges. I know how much people like to keep it a secret especially when it is scarce but if someone could PM me with their secondary spot I would be sooooooo greatful and I promise I wont tell a soul! I wold only take enough for one session at a time as I know how hard it is to find. Thanks in advance for any help.
  12. Hi Raiders, Went down to lake Macquarie yesterday with my brother in law and his son for some blackie fishing. they are new to dark art of blackie fishing so was hoping to teach them a few things and get them onto some fish! I was lucky enough to get my hands on some good green weed so was hoping for a really good session as I had heard some good reports from down there. Found a nice spot with minimum drift and first "down" was a solid hookup, measuring 37cm. put him in the keeper net as the BIL wanted some fish for dinner! Went quite after that so moved to another spot only to be plaqued by heaps of undersized blackies could not catch a keeper to save my self! Was still very enjoyable though as the BIL son caught and landed his first 3 blackies and was very excited. the BIL also landed a few and was instantly hooked . Total for the day was BIL: 3 son: 3 me: 18 but only one keeper! Sorry no pics as i forgot the camera and phone at home!
  13. Yep!!! around Narrellan way!
  14. Hi fellow Fishraiders, I got told about a place to fish for carp near my local area of campbelltown, so I did a bit of research on the net about carp rigs and baits and set off on sat about 12:30. Armed with 2 rods and some sweet corn and bread as bait, I was happy to find I had this beautiful place all to myself . I went about rigging up and took in the scenery as the waiting game begun. Didnt have to wait long as the smaller outfit with 6lb braid took off at a rate of knots and there was nothing i could do to stop it I was just about to be spooled when the 8lb leader shredded on a snag. WOW talk about being blown away, I quickly realised I had underestimated carp as a powerful fish. Soon after i had my leader shreadded on the 12lb combo twice A small change of tactics while fighting the next couple of fish had me land 2 at 73cm and 81cm. gees they weigh a ton trying to lift them up with the net! Anyway got dusted another 2 times then decided to call it a day and return another day with some heavier leader to really stop these guys in their tracks. Also accidently hooked a little turtle which had his photo taken and was then quickly released! Here are a few pics of the fish and the area! P.S the fish were killed and buried away from the water as per thr fisheries regulations.
