  1. I am almost 100% sure that these spots are spot X
  2. Sorry about that jewiehaven that is from the lower clarence and caught in a trap set in about 6 meters. I also had 5 witches hats out aimed at blue swimmers but had no joy with them. Crabbing is some-thing that I do but don,t put a great lot of effort into, this summer that is changing. Actually these come in boots as well, which are half way between gosford and the entrance and I like them but that is enough of that
  3. One of the things I enjoy about the warmer months are these which I picked up yesterday feel free to add one of yours
  4. The people I have heard of where beach fishing at the time and this would of been before the advent of graphite.
  5. The dangers are quiet obvious, even more so with the use of graphite. While having heard of deaths due to strikes while land-based fishing, I have no re-call on anything about what the story is while in a boat. Yes it would be a good spot to be hit as you are the highest point around and we where always told not to swim in a pool when younger during a storm but I can,t ever remember this happening. Does any-one know the facts? and how far would the water be charge from a strike?
  6. Well Luderick Luke I think you hit one thing right on the head and that was this "Then out of nowhere, smash" One of the major differences between plastics and HB,s and if your lucky you still will have some of that 250 worth in your tackle box in lots of years time, I very much doubt that USED plastic will do that.
  7. Nothing to do with bag limits but just something interesting I have seen. Well you may have heard of Bremmer Bait which does pilchards. Well while visiting Bremmer Bay in between Albany and Esperance you had to listern to the trucks going from the harbour to the factor at night, well these trucks where that full and over flowing I have not seen so much pilchard road kill And in Fremantle they use to have and may still do have a Sardine festival, really pilchards, they are cage in the harbour and when you order in goes the scoop and hey presto fresh very, very nice meals. Like I said nothing to do with bag limits, just some experiences and boy there must be absolute billions of the out there feeding al types of creatures.
  8. Hey thank very much posters. And Jewhunter Clarrie Hall is one of those spot that is stuck in my mind with-out the aid of a digital, still look as magic as ever
  9. Yep good stuff, I really like the one where the lure is being worked to the sighted barra and how at the last straw when it getting to close to be worked any more it is sped up and the fish thinks this is not getting away and pounces. I gather the scarf set up is for sun protection? How are they with comfort ? as having a trade where you need some protection often wearing thin over the face are a pain.
  10. A few more pics of peoples places would be great
  11. That is a tuff one as I have lived on both sides of our wonderful land. For now it the area I call home and my fishing skills are improving with age and my photography is on a different matter and it use to be focussed on surf more than anything. Plus photography has changed since the advent of digital and the cost of developing a roll of film for one really good shot is gone. Back to the subject of fishing and seeing I enjoy a wide range of fishing it makes the queston even harder, so I have added a few under different areas. sunrise lure rock to gutter, yamba upper reaches, clarence low-tide rock bar (mobile phone shot) collis wall, sunset & cane fire That is why to find a particular spot is hard and I wish I could use some of the memories en-beaded in my head like a digital because they are probably the most special. I hope others ad theirs even if they done it before as their enjoy-able to look at and I don,t waste money on fishing mags any more and don,t miss their some-times straight forward lies P.S. the rock area misses out due to them having to many pixels or something.
  12. Went for a throw today and besides the 20 litres of rain water me and the boat caught which was really good to see I caught a eagle ray. I had a school of them go by, it was about 10m by 3m in size (the school that is) and to my surprise I was on. It put up a fair fight and was mouth hooked on a 5 inch curl tail worm. I didn,t have a camera on me as I had the wet gear on before I left home and don,t take it in that sort of weather. Just wondering if they are are a regular on lure because it is a first for me in years of lure fishing.
  13. Although I am not a member of any other fishing site, I do flick through them and this same shot shows up. I guess who-ever first sent this pic out by what ever means is having a good laugh and proud of themselves
  14. Glad to hear you had a good time and help from a local never goes astray. The broad is the spot for flatty during winter. You would of noticed a pocket net prawner set up on the eastern bank not to far inside the entrance. This has a rock feature and a hole one of my places to fish spots. A mate of mine went up there the other day and was annoyed to find it there. Over all the clarence valley is a great spot to fish and live and having a boat helps heaps. You also would of noticed Lover Point at the end of Pippi Beach a good spot to throw a lure for all sorts of things at times. Hope you were not here when we had all that wind which made life difficult for a while. Sounds like you should visit your sister more often.
  15. I know you said you where looking for a guide Tony but I am just letting you know there is a book put out by gregory's called fishing guide to brisbane and surrounding areas by Rod Harrison. This book has been one of the most useful fishing tools I have owned. Even if getting a guide it would not hurt to do a bit of research before going. Try and have a look at it if you can get your hands on one Also just forgot the other authors Leeann Payne, Dave Downie and Gary Fitzgerald
  16. You will find walking the banks around Maclean maybe not your best bet. Your best bet would be to google earth it and have a look at places such as Whiting Beach, Romiaka Channel, and Oyster Channel all down around Yamba and I also would be looking hard at the Iluka side as well, good luck.
  17. Just a bit more of the same river different spot today, not over productive but a good morning never the less small estuary cod flatty around the 70 mark the spot with old barges holding the bank together
  18. Yes, with some fish affected more than others. Bass are a classic example, In fact the other other arvo I was in the middle of a hot session as a front approached as soon as the front hit that was the end of that and we could not get another hit no-matter what was tried even though it was just getting dark.
  19. I just can,t get over the bit about taking the fish into the bedroom. I don,t think I would of lived after that to make the post!! Well done on the fish and thanks for the laugh.
  20. All I know is one of the reasons I like fishing, surfing, camping, etc. is that I escape the noise of the world and listen to life, but what ever turns you on is ok as long as it is not in ear shot of others who don,t want to hear or maybe even not like somes choice in music
  21. That,s is on the clarence and you don,t have to go to far in most directions to find a nice spot or different type of fish, from rock, beach, estuary, or fresh. Jenno, yes those older rio's still work and with my lure fishing I try and try being the operative word not to get caught up in the latest craze lure thing. Seeing a prawn jumping out of the water onto a rock to safety made my choice easy. I probably could of used one of the smaller prawn style lures or plastic and caught a few bream as well but flathead where the target. Flathead cracking the meter would be nice as 98.5 my best and a meter has been a goal for a long while and seeing a couple of large fish I have spooked lately it is coming into that time of year where that is quiet possible.
  22. I have had 2 good fishes out of three in the last few days. The first was a bass fish at short notice which ran hot for a period with 8 fish between 35-45 cms but then a front moved through just before dark and all went quiet. Then yesterday was the none fish/fish where I got to where I was going and was stung by a bee. This would of been ok except I am allergic to them and had to depart a top day with-out hardly a cast and the tide was just about to turn. Today was a little on the breezy side so I fished a spot I knew would be nice. I worked the area fairly hard. Mainly using a rio prawn I ended up with 12 fish, bringing home half for a feed or two. Oh well it back to work tomorrow.

Can some-one tell me what this means Welcome to your control panel Can Not Create You have the reached the limit of albums that the administrator will allow you to create and what you have to do to create an album?
  24. I can tell you first hand squidding is not a very big activity in this part of the world. I am not saying that they are not around as they get in the shadow of the boat some times. I know the tackle stores stock jigs but sell very few! Maybe just take the info that you know put it into action and see what happens you might run into a un-tapped gold mine. I have often thought of giving it a run but that can be hard as I have enough choices already. good luck, look for the same enviro's as you usually try and give it a go.
  25. I to like using braid for the same reasons as Roberta pointed out. The draw backs can be the striking and if you don,t adjust it you will be dodging floats going past your ears all day long and I do believe as it is lighter and more cotton like the wind catches it more than mono which is sometimes a pain when fishing from rocks. There might even be a case for your float and stopper causing wear and weakening the braid. To a quick Q to Roberta. The green weed fly/bait I think the 1 and only place I have seen or heard about it was in one of your post some time ago, is it still getting a run?
