  1. This particular ramp used to be quite bad a few years ago and was quite common to see car windows smashed, trailer rollers missing but the last 2 years has been good as I've see on a few occassions the police doing the rounds very realy in the morning.

It's a real difficult one to police as most of the ramp carparks are quite dark so cameras are not very effective. Not sure what the solution is ?

Hey Spic , just out of interest which boat ramp was it, I noticed a rego plate at the bottom of Rose bay the other day at low tide, was going to fish it out when we got back but the tide had come in too far and I couldn't find it, just an idea, probably not yours, but you never know...

  2. Hi Raiders, just wondering if anyone knows the story behind a small runabout that towed a 70-80kg Marlin out of Watsons bay this arvo. Went down to get some squid and saw him cruise past with a Marlin in tow, looked like it was struggling to pull it, very impressive if he caught it on that boat, the reels can't have been any bigger than 20's.

  3. Hey guys, thanks for the heads up, going up there now. Went up the other day and someone had turned all the switches on, lucky I have a lockable isolator. Should be sold by the end of this weekend, got my eye on a nice 25 Bertram, so I'll be needing some new FR stickers...lol

Thanks again for keeping an eye on my lil Pakula, gotta love being part of a community, and cheers Jonny for the txt, come out on ther Bertie when i get it huh, the Fin are showing up and Steve got a 220plus Blue last weekend.

  4. It snapped in two places, on a 4kg Kingy, piece of sh#t end ring snapped off then it broke just behind the fourth ring, I rang Rapala and asked if it was a common problem, knowing full well they've been snapping left right and centre, and they said NO as friggin if, and now they won't replace it....how f'd is that. Now I'm left with no bloody rod and a big space in my wallet, going to 1770 soon to, great!!!!!!

  5. Putting her back on the trailer will get easier and easier with time mate. if you do go out of the harbour let me know, I'm out almost every weekend, get yourself a radio and we can stay in contact, be abit safer for you.

  6. but is the boat capable of it?

Hey mate, I'm pretty sure your going to get the same advice from everybody here. Sure you can take a boat that size outside the heads, just make VERY sure you know what the weather is doing BEFORE it happens. Lets face it, if they cancel the Manly Jetcats when its gets rough, imagine what it would be like coming through the heads in your boat. Food for thought.

  7. Thanks guys for all the info, a friend of mine sold his 25 before I knew he was selling it and has now got a 26, he said the only real thing to watch were the engines, looking at either the Mercruiser 165's or the 470's, he reckons the 165's were really unreliable but the 470's lack the grunt. Had alook at one on Monday

  8. Got a 90kg Stripe 3NM SE of Peak on Friday. 23.5degree water. Went out to the shelf due east of Plonky to find a temp break before shelf up to 24.5 degree, so worked back and forth the temp break for 4 hrs for nothing. Decided to run home via Peak and got him up on the short corner less than 10m from boat, 3 cracks and he was on. Nice conditions, first fish we haved tagged, 4th fish we have hooked, so bout time one stuck.

Get out there while the conditions are good for small boats, anything can happen!!

Heading out again now, fingers crossed, let you know how we go, goodluck to everyone thats heading out today.

  9. Hey mate, had the same day trolling for Marlin today, went bloody everywhere, from the heads out off the shelf some 25kms over to Longy, back down to Botony, not a single run or even any bait schools, water was cold too. Just as we headed back into the harbour a 500m patch of slimies errupted on the surface being smashed by a pod of dolphins, that was the highlight of the day, but still what a beautiful day it was and at least we got out there.

  10. Welcome to Fishraider dude, sounds like you had a great day, I'm going up to some ledges off Seal rocks in a couple of weeks, hope I can get some of your Tuna action happening. Congrats on the catch.

  11. Haha how does next weekend sound fellas??

Hey guys, did you get out?? the weather was amazing, bugger all swell or wind and I've never seen the water so blue, although we only got into one fish the whole day, and still no idea what it was, smashed the right hand short rigger and promptly pissed off with my Pakula sprocket, 30mins later got it under the boat only to have it drop the hooks, still always good to have abit of excitement.

    Def up for next weekend.

  12. hey fisho5

we might have to start our own fad/dollie social or maybe start to charge a boat entry fee or something :1prop:

i think there should definatly be a  in it for you though what do you think

    Adzzy

Lol, it's starting to look like a tournament huh!, its only meant to be scattered showers over the weekend with a moderate wind, Monday typically is looking amazing......

  13. yeah mate havent forgotten about ya lol, We're thinking off heading out on sunday jsut aslong as the weathers good, we'll keep in touch until then

Hey mate, if you fancy having another boat coming along I'm more than up for a trip out on Sunday too, lets hope the weather is alright.

    Cheers, Tobe

  14. As I said I know things like Browns is out of the question but what about ducking just out the heads etc?

Should be fine dude, just keep your eye on the weather and check the reports before you go, anywhere from Bluefish point to Maroubra will be easily do-able, just remember you get rebound pulses from the cliffs where your close in, stay safe, stay smart and you'll have a blast. Goodluck with your descision.

  15. Hey Raiders, after having the boat out the water for some time, got in last weekend for a troll with three small Kings and some Snapper, nothing special but always nice to hear the drags singing. Headed out again today to my fav spot, got two nice Kings over 90cm and a few rats, bloody choppy but well worth it, as I've heard reports that the harbour is quiet at the mo, heard abit of Fin action up the coast is coming our way soon..bring it on!!!

  16. Hi guys thanks for all the great feedback and Tom, mate your comments are music to my ears, I was paranoid about being outside and having waves crash into the bow and down ya go, but with the cover on do you really cop that much?

    Hey mate,

As everyone has already stated, have a good think about what your going to use it for, I personally wouldn't be over the moon heading out to the shelf in a bowrider, even with a cover on the front, remember water is bloody heavy and its not like someone is going to gently place it on the front of your boat, if its going to get as far as that chances are it'll be with a bit of a thump, sure it'll keep the spray out which is what they're designed for, but not an incoming wave. Don't get me wrong, they are fantastic social boats and heaps of fun, my mate has one which we take out when we're not fishing, but do you really want to get hooks in your cushions and fish blood on your carpet??? I say the bigger you can get the better, go for a well appointed half cab, more useable room, cover from the elements and still great social aspects. I'd sell you mine but i can't afford my Flybridge yet....lol

    P.S.

Your on a winner either way because your getting a boat.

    Cheers, Tobe

  17. Your getting some top advice dude, and I'm repeating the don't use WD40 line, its cost me hundreds of dollars replacing the line on my Marlin reels, it didn't seem to affect my smaller reels, but after trying to pre set my drags for this season, my lines were down to half the original breaking strain.....1000m of any kind of line isn't cheap.....

    Cheers, Tobe

  18. Hi Raiders,

Has anyone had much sucess using Octopus for Kingfish?

Do you use it whole or skin it first?

I used them for snapper but never for kings

    Jason

Hey Jason, its a good bait just remember to peel the skin off so that its white, and as bizarre as it sounds if you get some aniseed flavouring just a couple of dabs will work wonders. Godluck dude.

    Cheers, Tobe

  19. Hey mate, we were out off the shelf on Sunday from 9am till 8pm, got nothing till 4:30pm when we hooked a 200+kg Blue Marlin, took 600m of line before we slowed it down, got it alongside and released it only to discover after a phone call it would've been a new SGFC record, bugger. But at least they're out there, so I'll be heading out next weekend hopefully to try again. We were in 1740m of water approx 13m south of Browns.

    Cheers, Tobe

  20. Weird looking things huh! we had around 1000 plus washed up on Bondi beach couple of days ago, never ever seen them before, found a coconut covered in goose barnacles and a few By-the-wind-sailors and of course bluebottles, funnily enough no-one in the water.

    Cheers, Tobe
