  1. Bretto, Harden up and get one of those horses on board! ha ha ha Classic read mate......and im very jealous. Talk soon, Scott.
  2. rest assured Mr Stealthmission, they were all BBQ'd and consumed with much delight! Eating fish is all about the right preparation.......
  3. Cheers all. Yup, was certainly aware of the legal size for my sand (and tiger for that matter) flatties being 33cm, with duskies 36cm.
  4. I'll definately give the beach more attention in the weeks ahead! Regrettably, every one of the flattie fillets have already been baggsed by my greedy mates!
  5. Howdy all, Swung by the beach on the way home last night with the thought of going for a swim/surf. Discovered there wasn't a drop of swell, and the wind was blowing offshore. With daylight saving ending next week, I made a last-minute decision to have a quick fish off the beach while we still have some light after work. So I called a mate, grabbed a coupla beers, the gear, some burley and old pillies and headed over. On the first few casts while I was setting up I had a couple of touches and lost baits, so things were looking positive. There were also a few birds around, so I thought maybe a tailor or sambo could be on the cards. About 15mins into the session I landed a nice little flattie. Only small (34cm), but enough for a coupla fillets, so into the bucket. After that, the bites kept coming every 15-20mins, and resulted in 3 more lovely flatties, the biggest 46cm. Beautiful night, easy fishing, and some delicious flattie fillets marinating and waiting for the BBQ tonight. Happy days. Cheers, Scott.

    Slimies

Howdy y'all, Just wondering where people have found slimies in or around Syd Hbr recently? Heaps of yakkas around, but i havent had any luck finding slimies. Cheers!
  8. Yeah just around the island / reef to the immediate north as you head out of the inlet. We also tried a flattie drift behind the waves at cudmirah beach, but only managed undersize fish. Plenty of em though!
  9. Howdy all, Thought I would add a couple of pics from my trip down to sussex a few weeks before the long weekend. Always a magic spot, and the fish were on too. We had a great session around the island / reef just out of the estuary mouth. Cheers! Scott.
  10. Cheers for that Paul. I had tried somewhere down that way, but dont think it was Berrara Ck. Has anyone got any fishing reports of Sussex or the Basin?
  11. Howdy Raiders, Just wondering if anyone can tell me where to pump nippers at Sussex Inlet? Ive tried a few spots that were a lot of hard work for not much return...... Also, anyone had a session down there recently? Much going on? Cheers! Scott.

  13. All of the fish were taken on very lightly weighted pillie and bonito cubes / strips down the berley trail. We fished the top of the tide, so there wasnt a lot of current, and the baits were sometimes reaching the bottom (when the thousands of pinkies didnt smash them first!)
  14. Hi all, Ive been reading the forums for a while, and thought it was about time i put up a post of my own. I headed out for a middle of the day session yesterday with a couple of mates - one who i have fished with lots, and one who is a newcomer to the sport. Thought we would try for some of the staple estuary species. Anchored up just past Clontarf and started a berley trail of bread mixed with tuna oil, and some mushed up pillies. We dropped down some cubed pillies (very lightly weighted) into the berley trail. Within five minutes we had a hit - a 1 metre hammerhead was raised to the side of the boat on a very light bream rod, before he decided he had had enough, gave a big whip of the tail and broke his way to freedom. For the rest of the session we dropped down cubed pilchards and strips of a bonito i had caught the week before. Got a mixed bag of flatties, flounder, bream and trev's. Also managed a very hungry small rat king on a pink berkley plastic that was aimed at trev's! A great day on the water, and the new fisherman is keen as to head out again - next time to chase some bigger kings! Cheers!
  15. Howdy all, Just wondering where people have been getting yakkas lately? My old faithful spot at Balmoral island has been devoid of them every time i have tried in the last month or two..... Many thanks for any tips!
