  1. G'Day Crew, Where is the best/cheapest place to get the navionics card for NSW/Brisbane area? PM if you like. Regards, Robert
  2. Found a Daiwa Sol 2000 for $249, as I understand it below cost. Give Go-Fish Pete a call, very friendly, great knowledge and an excellent price on my Daiwa Advantage 2000. Regards, Rob
  3. Josh, Thanks for the reply. All up it cost $492.00 including the new braid. Not too bad considering. As I mentioned before I got my reel from Go-Fish Dural (Pete) great bloke, wealth of knowledge and gave me an excellent price. Originally it was to be matched to the Berkley Dropshot, but I decided to get the TD Advantage Rod to match as well as it feeling lighter and balanced better. Normally I would have got the rod from Pete as well, but I got the reel posted to me as it was too far to drive. Regards, Rob

    New Rig

Here are a few pictures of my new rig. Picked up the reel from Go-Fish Dural and the rod on special. Rod is TD Advantage 7' Medium. Reel is TD Advantage 2000 with TD Sensor PE Braid 8lb. Mainly will be estuary fishing, bream, flathead, bass etc. Hopefully will catch me lot's of fish! Regards, Rob.
  5. Well I decided not to keep the dropshot, instead replaced it with a new daiwa advantage rod to suit the reel. Very nice reel and rod combo, can't wait to try it out in the Hawkesbury chasing flathead etc. Got the 7' light/medium with fast taper (what ever that means)................ Up until now all my rods have had cork grips. The daiwa advantage rod is the first with synthetic grips. Will let you know how it goes. Regards, Rob.
  6. Hi Crew, Thanks for the great replies. Well I followed your comments and decided to keep the dropshot. Instead of using the shimano twinpower 1000 which is mated with a daiwa 3 piece light rod for trout I decided to buy a daiwa reel. Went to *** looked at various models and then after reading a few post's here decided to call Peter at Go Fish Dural. Peter gave me an EXCELLENT price on a Team Daiwa Advantage 2000A. Thanks Peter. Wonderful service, spent nearly half a day talking about the pro's and con's of various model reels. Although I could have purchased another reel from *** for not much more, I decided to buy from Peter as he spent all that time discussing reels and NOT ONCE did he try the hard sell or try and talk me into a more expensive model, in fact the opposite! Now you don't get service like that anymore. Got it today. Nice. Very nice reel. Going to put some daiwa braid on it!!! Regards, Rob
  7. G'Day Huey, Thank you for the reply. Really appreciate it. I was going to bring it to you, but did not have the time (I live near Wollongong). From all I have heard on this forum, it was my mistake. Your service sounds excellent, and the help you provide on this forum is to be commended. Thank you. They did install the provided in line 3amp fuse. What spray for the plugs would you suggest? Regards, Rob
  8. G'Day Crew, Today I purchased a new berkley dropshot. Got the 7'2" model 2-4kg. Is it too big to use for trolling from my tinny 4.3m stacer, most if not all my fishing will be from the boat and trolling. Mainly want to target flatties, bream and bass etc using small hard body lures and soft plastics. Should I have got the 6'6"? What reel should I team it up with? I currently have a Shimano Twin Power FB 1000 and a Shimano Sienna 1000. Are they too small? Sorry for all of the questions. Thanks in advance for the replies. Regards, Rob
  9. G'Day Crew, Do you wash your reels/rods and tackle including lures down after EVERY fishing outting or I am just anal with my gear? What do you do? Regards, Rob
  10. G'Day Crew, I finally bought my new Lowrance X510c "sounder". Unit is great, just need to learn how to use it properly. (Got the book from Rick Huckstep). Anyhow had it installed by a local marine place. VERY dissapointed with the install, very shoddy workmanship and care taken with the install. Took me over an hour to clean everything such as dirty greasy marks everywhere, scratched painted, metal fillings everywhere. Anyhow I asked them to install a master power switch to the unit as per instructions in manual. They didnt do this so the unit is drawing power from the battery directly. The manual states that this can cause corrosion in the plug due electrical differences etc. Can I use a silicon or lanolin based spray such as inox on the plugs/pins to help prevent corrosion? Look forward to your replies. Thanks in advance. Rob
  11. Thanks Jewhunter, forgot about that. Happy to transport the boat within the Sydney area as required. Regards, Rob
  12. G'Day Crew, Finally convinced she who must be obeyed that our new boat needed a better "fish finder" than the unit it came with. I purchased a new Lowrance X510c to replace the Navman 4430 which was factory installed. Before anyone says install it yourself, no chance! I did not inherit my dad's ability with tools I am located near Wollongong. Need someone who is going to do a great job, neat install at the same time taking care of my new boat. I don't mind paying for a good job, just hate when I am handed a great bill and they have damaged my property. Would mean removing the old unit and transducer (plus cable) and trying to use existing holes etc. Current transducer is transom mounted on mounting plate. Regards, Rob
  13. G'Day Crew, We are heading down to stay at the Big 4 in Nelligen this Wednesday (26th) for 3-4 days. Any tips please? I have a selection of bass lures, soft plastics etc. Taking the new boat (Stacer 429 Seaway) and the wife and kids. Really want the wife and children to hook up. Best to anchor up and use bait (which type?) or troll using sp's / lures? Thanks, really appreciate any tips/advice or feedback. Regards, Rob
  14. G'Day Rodf, Have you had a chance to use the new unit yet? We got an el cheapo navman unit with the boat and I already looking at getting the 510c. How much did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking? (pm me if you like). Unfortunately it is hard to justify to why we need a "better" unit! Rob
