  1. Just came back from South West Rocks for five days. Fished with my son in our boat in the afternoon on the north wall between white rock and the shack on the beginning of the run in tide. Used nippers pumped from the sand flats up from Kemps Corner. Some nice plate sized bream and Stewart caught a nice 35 cm specimen. Stayed at the South West Rocks Caravan Park on the back creek. A Must !
  2. Saw the boats there but not enough room for another so we kept on going.
  3. Saturday afternoon (05/03/2011) put in at Swansea Channel with my brother-in-law (and all around good bloke) Bob. Southerly / south-easterly blowing. We have not had much joy over our last couple of trips and were looking at each other (and the occasional banana my wife packs) as reason to blame. Motored out to the drop-off to fish the bottom of the run-out, anchoring on the northern side of the drop-off. First cast Bob pulls in a beautiful flathead (that we both agreed should be released). Bob had the right side of the boat and pulled in bream (one keeper), squire and others before we got picked to death. Moved out to the centre of the Lake for nil result. On dark we motored up to the Swansea Bridge and anchored on the west side and fished the incoming tide. Four good bream later and plenty of conversation we pulled up stumps about 11.00pm. Fished with mainly mullet strips and some prawns. Sometimes its not about the fishing, its about the good company.
  4. Hoping one of the locals from Lake Mac could help. No coloured tip on the fin. Small bull shark ???
  5. Went out this morning (17/10) with my brother and 16 year old nephew. Put in at Cams Wharf, Lake Macquarie, about 7.00am into a reasonable westerly / south westerly and started making our way across to Wangi Point. As we moved out past Rafferty's Resort we were met by the sight of a dorsal fin cruising past followed by the tail (I would estimate 4 - 5 feet in total). It was a great sight. Spent the morning drifting across Wangi Point out of the wind. First time on the boat for both of them and I don't think they've done much fishing over the years. Caught a few sand whiting, bream, flounder (a couple of keepers but let them go). One we didn't was a 35 cm whiting. That's my daughter's tea. Everyone enjoyed it. A great family day.
  6. Thanks for that Ray. I have a feeling that I know Hutcho and one of his mates Chappo.
  7. I've got a Stacer 4.49 (first boat bought earlier this year) with a red canopy and red & green stripes (Rabbitohs tragic).
  8. Guess what we had for tea - flathead, salad and chips !
  9. This is my first fishing report but had to write about a great day fishing with my daughter, Bekki, today (04/10/2010). Went out about 10.30am for a few hours boating with a bit of fishing. Overcast with an occasional shower. Put in at the boat ramp at Gosford and headed up to Paddy's Channel to fish the last couple of hours of the run out. Anchored up near the oyster leases. A few small bream (caught by Bekki) on prawns followed up by two 58cm lizards. My daughter's first real fish and she was excited (almost as much as me). Highlight of the day, though was the one that got away. It went downstream, then went upstream, couldn't stop it no matter how much drag we put on, before it went around an oyster post and busted Bekki's line. I think a bream, a big bream. Great Day !
  10. I think I might have been Bingo's mate that wanted the photo "Chopper".
