  1. Hi Big Dog, the Hump seems to have a few different areas of reef and gravel, the first mark is about 40 fathoms and the second is about 30 fathoms. Its best to use a sounder to look for likely areas and bottom structure if new to the area.If you can identify gravel patches in about 28 fathoms you should'nt miss out.

Hope the seas are kind and you find some good spots that are productive.

    Regards evopete. :1fishing1:

    Cheers Evopete

  3. i have the garmin 420s with the g2 maps and its great

the world map that comes with them is useless but with the g2 vison card its great

great sounder not sure what the diffrence between the 520 and the 420 is but i have no problems with mine

    very happy with it

Still waiting for the unit to arrive.

I was wondering about the base map ,I thought it might be crap, I'll definitely buy a g2 card.

Can't wait to get on the boat and test it out, I don't know if there is a difference besides the size of the screen.

I was going to buy a furuno, but the mrs is a massive tight ass. ( sorry love )

  4. Hi bigdog I bought a 525 chartplotter only with g2 charts and I can't complain about it why what's wrong with your unit??

    Cheers

Nothing yet, I still haven't got it , no one had commented I just thought it was a common plotter/sounder.

  5. Thanks Trapper t

Thats a great photo, he is a big boy, I think I would have crapped myself too.

When I first got to shady the tide was out, and on the other side of the bank there were some crocs sunning themselves, being young and dumb we crossed the little bridge thing separating the fresh and salt water and started hunting the crocs to get a good photo. How dumb, anyway suprisingly they were scared of us and scampered into the water. There were least 8 to 10 of them.

That night, on the fresh water side we counted 32 crocs in and around the boat ramp, we just shone a torch and could see their eyes. At that time we had consumed some bevys from the esky (ok more than some) we made our way down to the bridge or barrage and starting throwing rocks at the crocs, it was funny at the time, the stupid and dangourous thing is, the crocs were right there at the same level as we were.

I love that part of OZ

  6. thanks guys

big dog - we normally get them either at sandringham near the bridge or at sylvania near pauls hamburgers

you get more in the water around knee deep. always helps when your with someone one of you pumps and the other sifts the sieve. good luck!!

keflapod - yeah we always catch those buggers dont know if you can avoid them esp with pillies

normally anchor where a big patch of weed meets sand. keeping the yabbies as fresh as possible more than anything dont keep them too packed and change the water every half hour

Thanks for the advice i will try tommorow, tryed to fish the bay today the wind was cranking

    Dave
