  1. Nice Bentstik,

Boat looks immaculate. Your crew will appreciate not getting too wet. :biggrin2:

Heard you did realy well at the Whitesands Tourney. Up there with the big boats.Remember, its not about the size mate but how you use it. :biggrin2:

  2. Top night out Stephen,

Pity we couldnt get one of em into the boat :ranting2: I had several on but for some reason the hooks didnt stay connected.

There will be a next time for sure Stephen

    Cheers Stewy

    Hi Stewy,

A small treble or keeper hook suspended below your ganged hooks. By the time the hairtailer has the pilchard in his mouth, the treble is down his throat. No good for release fishing though.

    Good luck for next time.

    Gabe

  3. ill come back for the garfish... say hi 2 Mars :1fishing1:

    Hello Slideshow, :biggrin2:

Was a top weekend and plenty of laughs. Pity no category for Garfish, would have cleaned up on all the prizes. :biggrin2:

All that was missing was Mr Magoo. Anyway there's always next year.

  4. Hi Raiders,

Went for a fish on Sunday with my mate Max in the Hacking to see if we could get amoungst some fish. Fished rising tide, live worms and yabbies for about 3 hours. Couldn't believe the spider webs over the tips of my fishing rods. Looked like I had streamers coming off the rods.:unsure:

  5. hey guys

i'm looking a purchasing a bait board from Bait Mate.

wondering if anyone has one and if so how do you rate them.

    matt.

    Hi Matt,

I have just recently purchased a Baitmate baitboard and only fiited and plumbed it up last week. It's a PM640 which has a 40 litre live bait tank, a tray beneath and of course the chopping board on top. I can highly recommend the product in terms of looks, quality of craftmanship and cost.

    Cheers,

  6. Thanks for the info guys, will get this combo now for sure

    Cheers Grant

    Hi Grant,

Have a Daiwa saltist 6500 coupled with a Daiwa Monster mesh PE 6-8 jig stick. 80 pound braid with 120 pound leader. Have caught some kings with it so far with no problem. Have recently bought a down rigger and some knife jigs/poppers and will give it a workout shortly hoping for some 1 metre + specimens. :biggrin2::biggrin2:

  7. Thanks Gabe. We didn't burley at Mollie or the 3rd runway but did other places. While we were at Mollie we saw 3 guys fishing from a boat with 1 continually burleying up. They caught 3 that we saw in about an hour, no-one other boat did among about 6 there. I reckon the guy burleying did so every 5 minutes so you are right. Maybe that was you, it was around 10ish am.

    Mick

    Hi Mick,

Spot on mate that was me hanging out of the centre console throwing burley over the side. I just soaked some old bread rolls, mashed it all up, put some tuna oil and periodically threw some over the side. I also had some old pilchards from a past fishing trip and was cubing them out the back of the boat as well. A bag of stale bread from the local bakery is only $2.00 so cheap as well. Works a treat.

    Cheers,

    Gabe

  8. Took the handbrake :wife: out for a fish on Sat for the 1st time during winter. Hoping for a few at least with the tide high around 11.30am. Checked eerything, except the barometer. Everything in fine working order BUT the ""B". My day:-

    * 3rd runway - 1 bite (maybe a small snapper bumperd into the line accidentially)

    * Molli point (1st time ever) - 3 waves from different boaties

    * Kurnell - toilet break

    * Brighton - a sandwich

    * Como (Yeah !!) - baby flounder

    * Home - checked barometer (1005) :( No wonder.

The missus now has settled on only coming out fishing when it gets warm.Now..... if only it would fire up :074:

    Mick

    Hi Mick,

The answer to catching fish any time any where is to burley and burley hard. I also on Saturday morning fished Molix point with a guy in his boat that never seems to catch many fish at this time of the year.We anchored, I started a burley trail with bread and tuna oil. After 15 minutes and no fish my mate wanted to up the anchor and move around the Bay. I said give the burley a chance to attract. This is why he probably never catches fish at this time of year.Cut along story short, within a couple of hours had 5 trevely and 5 bream in the bucket. Threw back heaps of under size fish as well.

    Happy days.

  9. Hi Benzz,

    Firstly welcome to fishraider :1welcomeani:

Reading your post brings back fond memories when as a young 12 year would catch a bus to my mates house and then we would both catch another bus to Balmain. Rods, reels, bucket and tackle box in hand much to the amusement of the passengers and bus driver. We would always have the last laugh when geting back on the bus with a feed of fish each. :biggrin2::biggrin2: It's briliant to see young kids like yourself getting out and flicking a line as opposed to sitting in front of a computer screen chatting or playing games.

    Keep up the good work,

    Cheers,

    Starman,

    Gabe.

  10. Hey starman,

what did the damage on the bream? Did they prefer the chook, worm or pillie?

Do you cube the pilchard burley or pound the pot ?

    Tony

    Hi Keflapod,

The majority of bream were taken on blood worm, but the chicken did alright.I cubed the pilchards and also had a mixture of bread and tuna oil which I threw over periodically. A piece of unweighted pillchard down the burley trail worked wonders on the trevelly. Hope this answers your question,

    Cheers,

    Starman,

    Gabe

  11. Nice work. I agree the Bay has been very good over the last few weeks.

Were any birds working fish schools?

    Hi Fish53,

Saw some birds around but they were only floating on the water. Kept an eye on them but nothing was happening. So we kept going.

    Regards,

    Starman,

    Gabe

  12. Hi Raiders,

Hit the Bay on Saturday morning with my mate Max and my Son and headed out to the hot water outlet. Wind was up and it was cold :(:05: Any way started a burley trail and it wasn't long before we had all rods go balistic. We caught 31 fish which included Bream, Trevelly and a couple of jackects. Bay has been pretty good to us on our last few trips. Tide was going down, water temp was 18 degrees and bait used was blood worm, prawn and good old chicken breast. Not bad for a few hours fishing with good company.:thumbup:

Get out there before it gets real cold.

    Cheers,

    Starman,

    Gabe

  13. Hey Gabe, nice catch there mate, you havent posted for a while, hows it going

    Hi Basil,

I've been good all doing well thankyou, How's everything at your end? Cannot believe the conditions last Saturday in the Bay. Seems what ever you put out it would get smashed. No tap tap tap it was bang.

I've been doing some game fishing lately with Silvo. We fished Shoalhaven torney just before Easter, and I got a 140kg Blue marlin and a 70kg Stripped marlin. Only lost coming first on countback. Then at Easter took the kids to Fiji for ten days.We are fishing the Bermagui torney next week chasing yellowfin.

  14. Hi Raiders,

Hit Botany Bay at 6.00am on Saturday with a mate in search of some table fish. Light tackle with live yabbies and Hawksbury river prawns. Started at Towra for some nice bream and once wind abated drifted the middle of the bay for more bream and travelly. All in all a productive day and I must say the water was very clear and water temp around 20 degrees. No peskey red bream stealing our baits either.post-9344-127284513802_thumb.jpgpost-9344-12728451655_thumb.jpg

  15. Nice catch Starman. Good to see kings still travelling as far in the bay as the runways especially with all that dirty water caused from the expansion.

Just wondering did you catch the jewie and king on the same type of bait?

    Hi Dangas,

King on live yakka, jewie on a squid strip.

    Regards,

    Starman,

    Gabe

Nice Catch Gaby, how is the family.

    regards Basil

    Hi Basil,

All good mate. All the best to you and your family for Christmas and New Year. That goes to all Raiders as well.:beersmile:

  16. Hi Raiders,

Fished Sunday morning with a mate in the bay to try and get some Chrissy fish. Converted worms, nippers, squid and live yakkas to these. Fished both runways. Both kingfish and jewfish were 78cm's. Threw back plenty of smaller units just under size.

    Cheers,

    Starman

    Gabe
