Thanks @wrxhoon1 Jerry you may have a record entry

OK these fish need to be submitted into our records here :)

@Yellowfin79 take a look you could enter several fish and make all the current records topple.

I don't think we actually have a Threadfin Salmon entry at all.

We would be honoured to have these on record here.

Just need to edit your post to let us know what these were taken on - bait or lure.

It is about time Saad Jr has a log in if he does not alread have one!! YellowfinJr looks like a very good angler!

    Cheers

Donna, The biggest Threadfin @122cm belongs to Saad, mine went 120cm, the ones in the photos above were around the 90-95 cm. All fish caught on live bait.KingThreadfin.thumb.jpg.021ad4a9a0bd4e65bfd34fc250980f08.jpg

  2. As Zoran said HyDrive OBKI1 is made in South Australia and in my opinion superior to Sea Star. The cylinder in the old units was made from brass unlike the ally in the Sea Star. Depending on the outboard you have you mat need a different model. The above model is suitable for Mercs.

I have Sea Star in my boat because she was fitted with it new, almost 10 years old without any problems and I have auto pilot too.

About 20 years ago I replaced a cable steering and I used the Hy Drive just because it was Aus made, no issues in the 10 years I owned the boat .

And so your day has come ! ... excellent result. Bet you're glad Jerry came along .... showing up after a trip to dentist ...he's a trooper !

    Cheers Zoran

Two+ hours on the dentist's chair wouldn't stop me from going fishing! Besides I had to do it for Saad.

The Zoran fish came in at 167cm and 68kg. Is that another FishRaider record? 🤣

A few of the Dollies were over 90cm. Can’t recall the biggest maybe the other Amigos can chip in.
A couple at the end were caught on dead bait/strips. They would not touch SPs that we threw at them.
    Cheers Z

I only bothered to measure one of the big ones I boated she was a bit over 90 cm. We were all so busy boating them and taking the hooks off. Some pesty king rats there  chasing our livies.

Zoran thanks again for the invite.

P.S. I told you you need a bigger landing net....

  5. We got a big blue on Thursday 9th Feb.

We got some livies headed out to the Botany Bay wide fads. We got a few dollies mostly undersize. We kept 6 mostly under 70 cm.

We put the spread  out at the fads and about an hour later the port rigger goes of. A striped  puts on a show but it managed to spit the hooks. An hour later same rigger goes again. This time we see a big blue splashing on the top of the water. It dives down and we didn't see it again for 2 hours when it got close to the boat. Another 30 minutes we had him boatside, we put the tag in revived him for a few minutes and let him go to fight another day. He didn't have a tag on him.

  6. I don't know if this is any good. It works on 4G and 180 days standby.

Magnetic 4G GPS Tracker Anti Theft for Car Boat Truck Motorbike Caravan Trailer. $98.99.

    On Ebay..    294726905465

As for Sim , you can get an ALDI pay as you go $5 for 365 days plus you pay per call.

I'm looking for something like that for mine, not so much for the boat. I'm concerned about the trailer when parked at the boat ramp.

  7. Looks like you have a late model 5.2 Escort, late 90's -early 00's. I can't remember but towards the end of Savage they were making some FG boats in China probably later than the boat you have . I know for sure they had a 6.5 mt made in China.  That was much later than your boat.

I can't help you any further other than to say you will get more info contacting one of their ex dealers . Try contacting Huett Marine in Cowan.

  8. I don't know if they had the CV in 22.5" but they definitely had Enduro 40 hp . They also had some in that HP range with 21.7" or 21.9" . CV stands for customer value , Enduro was more commercial  grade.

Third option and much more expensive, is to repower with a 4 stroke with 20" shaft. It is not a bad option if you use the boat a lot and provided you can buy a new engine. You will get good money selling your old one as well.

  9. Looks like you may  have a 22.5" shaft engine. Is it a 2 stroke Enduro? Some of them came with 22.5" shafts.

As others have suggested you have 2 options, jack plate or weld an extension on the top of the transom and cross  brace it on the inside.

As the boat was bought after January 2011 you are covered by consumer warranty ( if you choose to go down that road). It states the good must be fit for the purpose and last a reasonable time . Clearly it is not fit for the purpose as it is a planning hull the 3" bellow the bottom of the hull creates a lot of drag .

If you want to fight it ( provided the dealer is still in business) call fair trading and they will advice you what to do.

I would take them on but that's me, I understand if you just want it fixed and put it down to experience .

Good luck with whatever you decide to do .

Can you measure the shaft length of your engine, would be interesting to know what engine you have.

To do that run your tape from the anti ventilation plate ( or cavitation plate if that's what you call it) to under that mounting bracket.

  10. Thanks Bob,

We always release Marlin unless it comes to the boat dead. I was a little concerned with this one because it got tail wrapped on his last jump. We had to hold him, swim him on the side of the boat for a while he was completely puffed.

I don't normally post bread and butter fish captures. I thought this was worth posting and to let others know that marlin are off Sydney.

All you blue water anglers get out there and have a go before they move up, do the miles and you will eventually be rewarded.

My idea of in Sydney, is in the harbour :D

    not 12 miles out,

    but hey, excellent stuff,

pity my boat is not big enough to get that far.

You need a bigger boat or go with someone else. Game fishing you need at least 3 on the boat, 2 is doable with auto pilot but can be hairy trying to clear the lines quickly.

    I don't have a huge boat either.

  12. I was a bit concerned about his health when he got tail wrapped at the end. On his last jump he fell on the line and it cut into his tail. He put a nice show before that at one stage he peeled 300 mtrs of 50 lb line. We made sure we revived him before release.
