I fished Duck Creek when I was a young teenager back in the early 80's. We caught plenty of eels up South Granville end, some big buggers too. Also use to catch mullet at the Clyde weir. It has always been polluted, and got worse over the years. I wouldnt stick my toe in it now.

Good work, and a nice lot of flatties. I fished Minnamurra with my son just after Christmas, we caught 9 mullet and 8 bream, all under size most just under (all released), still my son had fun. We used bait (worms) and lures, all the fish we got were caught on bait, never got a strike on the lures.

For the vast majority of my fishing life, I never really paid any attention to detail like the size of my hook and sinker, bait, the environment etc. I would just put a prawn on the hook and chuck it in, and take what-ever come my way. Which meant I caught next to nothing. I really think you need to read as much as you can on the art of fishing, and go fishing with somebody who knows what they are doing. Have a think about what you want to do, and what’s the best way to achieve it. I’m now getting too old to play footy or go to the gym, so fishing is the go. I’m pushing myself to learn more about the art of fishing, and with some small success. Good luck.

Great work, I had a similar experience a few months ago, now I've stocked up the tackle box with a few more lures.

I watch most of the fishing shows on Foxtel. The shows scenery is usually good, plenty of fished are landed by the host, and that’s about it. I do get frustrated that there are almost zero instructions on the art of fishing on the various shows. I need all the help I can get!

Great effort from start to finish!

This is the free lure from the Daily Telegraph that I used to get the flathead. One of the guys I was fishing with (a more experienced fisherman then me) said I would get nothing with a lure, and especially with that one! I used it as a bit of a joke, but also I read on here that the cost of a lure is the not the be all, and end all of lure fishing. I throw in 3 - 4 times with the Tele lure, then landed the flatty. I used it for an hour session after this for no results. I also used bream lures (not from the Tele), but no luck with them. My mates caught a few small bream (most approx 20cm) on prawns and bread. We fished near the Budgewoi Caravan Park and around the timber bridge.

I got this 49cm Flathead from the lake at Budgewoi on a Daily Telegraph lure. I've always liked fishing but I have never put a lot of effort into learning the game. I'm taking the time now to read the posts on this site, which are a great help.
