  2. Hey Guys, Will be visiting relatives in Narooma next week thinking of doing some fishing will be land based. Can someone point me in the right direction where to fish beach or rocks?
  3. Headed out yesterday afternoon at 4pm for a fish armed with some tube worms and pilchards.. The strong wind made casting a pain and unpleasant to sit on the sand but right on high tide ended up with a Flathead 2 whiting and 2 bream not bad for a quick little session..
  4. Had some time off between job's weather, tide and wind looked good so loaded the rods in the car and headed down to San Souci for a fish. Armed with some yabbies spent the last 2 hours plagued by stingrays and they where huge too.. Scored this thumper Trevally which i was lucky to land.
  5. No pictures as phone battery died. Usually have good success with whiting in the summer months rate them highly as a table fish.
  6. Went out for fish today since there was a break in the weather with no rain fished from 11am-1pm ended up with 2 bream biggest been 30cm and a whiting 29cm Water was dark chocolate brown and very windy which didn't make it enjoyable.. Caught the whiting on tube worm and the bream on steak.
  7. Can gurantee that bream was nearly 26cm above legal size I would never keep undersized fish let alone post them online.
  8. Haven't posted in a while. Have been fishing regularly this summer decided to go fishing Monday at botany bay was finding it hard to find bait was about to pull the plug found some beach worms at a bait shop made my way down good conditions stayed for roughly 2 hours manages a big whiting 46cm and a bream also lost a big bream near the shore. Headed out to same spot on Wednesday late start at 1pm had work in the morning missed the high tide had bloodworms and tube worms weather and wind looked good so headed out to try my luck stayed 3 Hours all up caught 2 thumper whiting and a big bream out of bait so headed home.
  9. That's a great catch especially a hairtail in the bay..
  10. Monster bream.. That thing must be a fossil lol
  11. Hey guys fishing in botany bay today caught what I thought was a flounder got home and on closer inspection it is different to the actual flounders I caught.
  12. Never knew trevally took steroids lol.. Thumper fish well done.
  13. Excellent report and congrats on the jewy catches.. I'm yet to bag one..
  14. Hey Guys, Thanks for you detailed review Jim much appreciated. Huey i will have a look at the stacer range. I was asking about side thickness after reading on various forums about thin sides been bent after heavy use. I find this hard to believe but would there really be a benefit over 1.6mm or 2mm ?
  15. Hey Guys, Finally decided after all these years fishing land based its time to buy a boat. Have narrowed down to a Quintrex Lazeabout. Now they come in 2 sizes I am interested in the 481 (Topsides are 1.60mm and max 70HP) and a 490 (Topsides are 2.0mm and max 90HP.) Do the topsides make any difference as I will be using the boat mostly in the bays and maybe on good days around the heads and a little off shore work. Yamaha or Suzuki which would I be leaning more towards or be looking at closely? (As the dealer now in Sydney is apparently a Suzuki dealer) Anyone with these boats let me know what they think. Thanks.
  16. Awesome fish congrats. Now time to get myself to NZ.
  17. Just watch where you store it or rats will have a feast on it.
  18. Good effort been out there in that weather. That king will come soon.
  19. Just below Cook Park... Few undersized whiting and stingrays.. Think water is still a tad cold summer months anywhere along the beach fishes well.
  20. Headed out today landbased at dolls point Fished from 11am to 1pm left when wind picked up. Used live blood worms caught two whiting 40cm and 37cm Hopefully fishing will get better when water temps rise.
  21. Jenno - It was a big unit didnt have much of a fight though. I have been getting 40+cm consistently this summer. Anything goes - I just use yabbies i pump around at the sailing club at san souci or blood worms when available. I usually fish during the day I dont bother early morning or late afternoon. I just fish off the beach dont bother going on the groynes. Hope this helps. Regards, John
  22. Hey Guys, Headed out today for a quick session down to brighton beach 11:00pm - 1.30pm. Not much action today fishing was slow and unpleasant on the beach with the wind. Caught my biggest whiting to date measured 48cm. Didnt put much of a fight till he was about 2m from shore. Also caught 2 bream. Bait used: Yabbies. Will be heading out this saturday and sunday hopefully with a little more luck. Regards, John
