Guest Big-Banana
Gday fellas, got a problem. We have a Merc Optimax 175. Its 3 years old and where the hydrofoil has been screwed on a crack has begun and continued on both sides. Now this is obviously from the installation of the hydrofoil, but would it be worth taking it back after all this time? Ill get a photo later on in the day. Any help would be appreciated! Guest bluecod
BB, Check your warranty - the fitting of a hydrofoil probably voids it in the first place and if it doesn't and you're overtime, the parent company won't want to hear about it. You may be able to get it welded, but once welded you'll have to scrub the foil in the future as the welding could set up a weakness along the edges of the weld. Grantm
Geez thats some bad luck BB. Its actually a bit odd that its cracked at all. If fitted correctly they shouldnt crack the cav plate. May have been a bit off when fitted. Welding the cav plate shouldnt be a major drama but i would reconsider the use of the foil if you can get away with it. Dont think you will have much luck with warranty
