Guest Big-Banana
Hey fellas, I have a 175 Merc Optimax on my boat and whilst driving a "check pitot" sign comes up on both the RPM and Speed dials. Anyone have any idea what this is as you cant see any readings whilst this is on? Cheers
The Iceman
A pitot tube is used for fluid flow measurement so yours is probably blocked which is why your speedo isnt working Sorry I cant help you with any more as I dont know anything about your outboard
Bashir
on our merc the pitot is located in the gearbox or in the leg somewhere, I assume the optis would be the same. It is basiaclly the sender for the speed and rpm which is why it isn't displaying a reading. Not much to worry about really, it wouldn't keep me off the water.
