inhlanzi
G'day Raiders Got out at a decent hour this morning. Headache after watching the Rugby!!! I was joined by a mate who wanted to try and catch his first Hairy. Came around the corner at Fishermans beach and encountered this amazing ship. Does anybody know what and or who she is? What a start to the day. Went down to the Hairy area and set out the pillies. The water was very dirty and a lot of debris in the water. Dodge the seaweed and the bits of trees and plastic bags... All was a bit slow and my mate started to ask if we were using the right tackle and in the right place etc etc Just then just as if ordered - "I think I've got something...I think I've got something" I could see right away it was a Hairy and after a short interesting fight the silver ribbon shape emerged from the deep. I got the lip grip into its mouth and my mate was very stoked and posed proudly with his first Hairtail. It is very rewarding to set out to catch a species and then get it but even more so when it is a cherry buster. Needless to say we had a cold one to celebrate. On a drift in Jerusalem Bay I hooked something very solid - bugger stuck on the bottom - but it began to move!! Definately not a fish but it came up very very slowly...suddenly a cage emerged...somebodys old crab / fish trap covered in mud and slugs and things. Gave it a bit of a rinse and looks like it will be good to use again. No more haireis for the day but did manage to get a nice squid for dinner. Saw a boat at Appletree come in with a good catch of medium sambos. Another great day on the water cheers inhlanzi
Flattieman
Seems that whenever a mate needs to catch a hairtail, you can put in onto one, mate! Well done once again. I reackon you're one of the few people in Sydney who can consistently catch hairtail during the day! Flattieman.
