New Rod And Reel?

I'm looking to get some new gear but have no idea where to start. I mostly fish BB and will be targeting anything from kingies, trevs and flatties.

what sort of rod and reel should I be looking for?

I guess I am just looking for a general purpase rod & reel for hitting the bay with( if there is such a thing).

I understand that these fish are apples and oranges I'm just looking to get a good all rounder

Hmm... it's difficult to find something that'll suit kingies, but for trevs and flatties at least, a rod around 6'6" - 7' (I like longer rods) and a size 2500-3000 (or even 4000) reel with 8-12lb braid (or heavier with the 4000). A combo like this might be able to handle some rat kings, but I think some people who are more versed in the art of kingfishing can advise you as to whether it's a viable option.
