Farma
Gday Fellow Raiders I was wondering if anyone keps fish in fishtanks. The reason was I was wanting to get a few trout for mine. anyone kept trout? is it hard? Thought I may as well put somthing in it as it has had water and gravel in it for the last 8 months it is a 6 foot tank about 1 1/2 foot wide and 2 foot deep. tiger_shark
Ive kept 2 pinkies and 2 sweep, all about 2 inches long, for about 6 months in a tank before releasing them.... Have you had the filter running in the tank for the past 8 months??? If not, i would suggest you run the filter for about a month before adding anything to it...test for ph, amonia, nitrates and nitrites... Im not too sure how hard it is to keep trout, just make sure you do regular water changes...
Farma
Hi Tiger. Yup I have had a filter running the whole time. had to have something to resemble a working fish tank Farma
tiger_shark
I think the major thing to be aware of is the fact that trout need coolish water...if it gets too warm they will die. Buying a chiller for a fish tank is pretty pricey i believe...what i used to do on those hot summer days is put a frozen drink bottle(full of frozen water, of course) in the tank to keep it at a reasononal temp.
