keenas
G'day Raiders. Launched from roseville at 6.00am,tried for yakkas at clontarf and balmoral for zippo. anyone know where the yakkas are? have'nt caught one since june. Trolled around old mans and nth head for the same, only had 2 blocks of pillies and was lucky get them due to the fin rush. Started fishing in about 40mts it was dead, decided to move ,after seeing patches on the sounder anchored up a bit deeper. Within 10mins my nightmare was relised with the arrival of carp of the sea schooling amongst my berley ( sweep ).After about 1/2hr the swimming fertiliser dissapered, had a line on the bottom hoping for fresh bait but there was nothing down there. While feeding out the floater it got hammered , set the hook and could tell it was a red, 2mins later had a red of 2kg in the boat, got smashed again but missed it caught a trevally and that was it for the day. The conditions were pretty good although the current was pretty weak pushing south, was expecting a bit more activitey but it was very quiet no butchers, bakers for bait very odd . Anyway hopefully this blow will stir things up!!! Edited September 7, 2006 by keenas

mako1
Nice snapper and trevally keenas. I've also noticed that the yellowtail have gone off the bite in the last few weeks. This wild weather will bring the snapper in close and put them on the bite.
