Bream Mad Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Headed out yesterday at lunchtime to a spot pretty close to home at crosslands. Tide was just about finished running out so started in the bend along the channel. Pretty quiet only two hits on gulp sandworms and a little flatty to hand . Moved to another section shaded by rock and deeper. Cast right into the rock face and let the BM flutter down watching for any twiches. Couple of casts and the plastic comes back minus it's tail . Changed into a more durable gulp 3" fry in watermelon and cranked up the retrieve speed resulted in crazy action, with good sized choppers climbing all over the lure untill it was at my feet!!! :biggrin2:2-3 hits came evey cast all in full view Most just grabbed the tail and pulled for awhile before letting go, but the bigger ones managed to hook up and provide plenty of sport with the drag going nuts!! Relased one fellow about 30cm and he dived head first into the mud and just lay there fins in the air, a couple of taps of the rod tip and he still would not move eventually i wade out though knee deep mud and pull him out. Cheers BM

Cheers BM What is with the recent trend of suicidal fishes nowadays?? Well done Bream Mad, choppers do really like a fast crazy retrieve and I find that they are particularly fond of silvery coloured placcie or hb with lotsa glitters. Cheers Ron
Bream Mad Posted September 20, 2006 Author Posted September 20, 2006 Ron, I actually tried a BM in pearl blue, but no the choppers loved that green fry and would not "chop" on anything else, that day. Interestingly you had to get the lure speed just right or no strikes came. But you are right if i am targeting tailor and salmon off the beaches i will start with a chrome metal lure. BM
Sammy0884 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 i have found the choppers to go mental for storm nippers, which are a pain to retrieve out of their toothy mouths with all their tenticle bits!
