Trolling Speeds

Can someone recomend a trolling speed for trolling small skirts and deep diving lures for kings or anything close to the heads that will take the lure?

With the diving lures - is it the faster i go the deeper they dive?

The skirts are mostly xmas trees.

I was trolling yesterday at about 3-5km/h and told this is way to slow? did i waste my time?

I try to go about 7 knots or so when offshore. I use deep diver's one bibbless and the other an X-RAP. These lures can be trolled pretty fast, expecially the X-RAP up to 13 knots. You want to have it at a speed that the skirts bubble at the surface every 3-5 seconds.
