FletcherG1991
i am heading up to terrigal to try for the kings and snapper (and other tasty things ) and wanted to know how do i catch squid whilst out there as i have heard a few reports of some big fellas around is it just a matter of putting a decent sized jig onto a paternoster rig ? Ads
There is always plent of bait inside the haven at terrigal including squid so i would that a go first. Im assuming that you are launching at the Haven boat ramp

Guest Big-Banana
Ive got them up to 2kg offshore, I like the bigger jigs, say 2.5 to 3 inch. I used to get the consistantly in around 30-40 m of water. Good luck. Go the Pink Jig!
namesay
YOu can also use a dead yakka on a spike. Seems to work really well on offshore squid. Got to fish it deep however. CHeers KElvin
CR@ZY OS@M@
namesay i agree the yakka on the spike down deep . we have landed some big monsters that way i have been told that the monster kings are up at terrigal also
namesay
Crazy there are monster kings ALWAYS at Terrigal. Not many people fish here expect the professionals. In the past the terrigal reefs were heavily trapped but now they are gone and the fish are coming back. CHeers KElvin

namesay
There's and old bloke who squids off barrnejoey in a 10ft dingy with an8hp motor. He is ALWAYS there and I say hi to him everytime. He gets HUGE squid with those coloured plastic jigs on a handline. I have been squidded with live baits fished here for kingies so it seems like the big squid are around. Haraka is spot on! namesay
Yeah that one with the life jacket on. He is there almost everyday. I missed him for a couple of weeks last year when he went on holidays but otherwise he goes out wind, rain or hail...sometimes with a friend...a bit like me actually... I saw him this morning as well. Cheers Kelvin

namesay
I always keep an eye on him when I am out just in case he gets swamped or something but he manages OK. I just think his boat is a bit sus especially in some of the seas this guy goes in .Cheers Kelvin
