locodave Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Was looking at the weather reports, doen't look that good for tomorrow does it? With those conditions will it be failry choppy?
Guest Big-Banana Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 NE & any Southerly wind makes it really uncomfortable especially in the heads of any bay. So take care.
Guest DV8 Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Broken bay in 25 knot on a falling tide. No thanks. You never know though. They can get it wrong. The 25 knot north easter i got last night was not forecast. Better off staying in Pittwater or the Hawkesbury. Good luck Davo
locodave Posted December 1, 2006 Author Posted December 1, 2006 Ok, so what are the winds you want to avoid in that area? NE and Southerly? Is it me, or is lately we havn't had 5 knot winds in ages!!!! I'll give it a miss then, I'll just go around the bays!
Guest DV8 Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 No it is not just you, thoughthe wind looks very light on Brisbane waters right now. A honking Nor Easter is bound to blow this afternoon and all weekend though. Broken Bay is a big bay and it pretty much cops it from all directions. Just watch the falling tide between lion island and the Joey especially when the river is in flood. Current runs like amd there, coupled with wind it can produce some pretty steep overfalls. Depends on the size of your boat and how good your stomach is though. Davo
