caine
might be a dumb question but when you get a new engine you have to run 50 : 1 for the first 10 hrs after that 10 hrs and you still got a 1/2 tank with 50 : 1 in it....can you just keep topping it up till its gone or should you dump the 50 50 fuel at some point Edited December 31, 2006 by CaineS
coollamon
Glad you asked that mate as I am wondering the same thing as I have just finished my 10 hours and still have quarter of a tank coollamon
Shark Bait
You'll probably find they run a 25:1 mix to run the motor in & 50:1 after that. Running 25:1 for the ramainder of a tank of fuel is OK & won't hurt it.
caine
should have mentioned its oil injected i take it, it wouldnt make much difference??? i have only 2 hrs to go and a full tank of 50 : 1 do i just keep toping it up Edited December 31, 2006 by CaineS
Penguin
I thought if ur motor is oil injected then there is no need to mix oil in ur fuel, injection does it for u. True or false? penguin ps-mine is 4 stroke so i dont have to mix anything Edited December 31, 2006 by penguin
CR@ZY OS@M@
i dont have to mix oil in my fuel. i have a seperate oil section that i only put oil in it and it mixes with the fuel when needed Edited December 31, 2006 by Crazy John
caine
yeah your both correct except when you are running in a new oil injected engine for the 1st 10 hours you must also pre mix 50 : 1 in the tank so the new engine gets extra lube'y my question is ....after that 10 hrs....do you need to be fussy about getting rid of oil from the petrol tank. Shark Bait
Nope, you can run the rest of the tank out or just top it up with fuel as you need it.

Lasty
My dealer told me that you only needed to use to 50:1 mix for the first tank. After that just rely on the oil injection and don't take it over 3,500 rpm for the first 10 hours.
pjbink
I won't do any harm to dilute the fuel/oil mix with straight petrol after the run in period.
