Grantm
GDay All, Just wanting to catch up on the latest fishing rod lingo. There is a lot of talk of 'fast action and slow action' rods and also 'soft and hard action' rods. What does all this mean in real terms and what do you use the different types for ? Thanks once again

Bashir
A fast action rod loads up rather quickly and the bend in the rod when loaded up is contained mostly towards the tip of the rod. A lot of overhead boat rods are of this design. A slow action is simply the opposite, with the bend in the rod being distributed along the length of the rod. eg, a 12ft blackfish rod.
