I dony know how true this is, but I was speaking to Garth of the tackle shop in Windang, who was told by a local that he had taken his boat out through the channel and recorded a sounder depth of 5.4mtrs, which if true is at least encouraging.

On the other side of the coin I was sitting just behind the breakers on Wednesday and it was only 3mtrs deep.

So I wont be trying to get out through there just yet, will wait until I see boats going out with my own eyes.
