Missing fisherman's body found

The body of a second Victorian man who went missing during a fishing trip has been found in the Murray River on the NSW-Victoria border.

Two friends, aged 29 and 30, were reported missing about 7pm (AEST) on Saturday.

The men, both from Mildura, were last seen by a group of water-skiers they ferried back to a boat ramp on Saturday afternoon.

Their fishing boat, with damage to the hull, was found afloat and with its engine running near Red Cliffs, 16km south of Mildura, just before midnight on Saturday.

The 29-year-old man's body was found about 2.15pm yesterday in the river at Red Cliffs, near where police recovered the boat.

The body of the 30-year-old man was found on Tuesday morning about 3km upstream from the Red Cliffs boat ramp, at the water's edge, police said.

The bodies of both men were taken to Mildura Hospital.

Post mortem examinations would be conducted and a report would be prepared for the coroner.

Thats very sad, must have been a freak accident of some sort,

two fully grown men to drown in a river like the Murray with the

river banks in site, and boat still upright.U would have to assume

that they wound up in the water unconscious, maybe thrown out of the boat :(

can the motor click out of gear?

the boat was found afloat "with motor running"

if they were speding and hit a trunk or something that flipped them, wouldn't the running motor keep running until it hit something or ran out of fuel? and if it was ideling, what the hell happened?

sad either way, but i'd be very interested in the findings of the post mortum.
