Flightmanager Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 BLACKIE SOCIAL, ATTENDEES AND RULES what you need to know - a must read!!! We have the official list of attendees happening, so now we need to know whether you are a boater ( or landbased (LB) and also if you have available spots for deckies. (All up, there is about 1km of wall to fish counting Forster & Tuncurry walls for LBFs) But there are also great fish up in the lake around the leases & weeds and around the bridge for boaties! For the Land based fishos, some of the areas are dead flat & require no rock climbing at all. BLACKIE RULES and other bits you should know! Species: Blackfish aka Luderick 25cm and over Date: Sat 2nd and Sun 3rd June 2007 Venue: Forster Marina Park and bbqs under the bridge for food & drink, unless advised otherwise (weigh-in at the marina fish cleaning tables at other end of the marina, at the carpark) Start time: Daybreak (last of the runout tide on the Sat & Sun & turn of the in - very good time to fish) Finish time: 3.00pm Saturday (1500hrs) & 10.00am Sunday (1000hrs.) On Sunday, the early finish at 10am will allow Raiders plenty of time for comparing fish, declaring a winner, do prize giving & have a bite .... and still time to drive back home to Sydney & the coast in daylight hours. Prize Giving: 11am Prizes: Biggest overall blackie Please have your fishing licence with you, just in case you are asked for it. Shoes with GOOD GRIP are essential for clambering around the rocks. This is a social day, but friendly competition is encouraged! If you notice anyone having difficulties or not fishing the correct depth etc, or generally frustrated, give them a yahoo & some help! This is prime blackie time, so hopefully we'll get everyone into a fish! Cos that is what we do best - help others get into fish! A get-together on Fri night at the Caravan Park at 6pm for final tips & any newbie's gear checked out, so you are ready to go first up on Sat morning - Roberta will also reveal her 2 most successful spots to fish! You must register before you commence fishing. This is for legal reasons , and there will be no exceptions. If you are not registered, you will not be eligible for prizes. Members with guests are encouraged to fish as well, but they must register with the member before heading out to fish. A reminder that only Fishraider members will be elligible for any prizes. Registration will begin on Friday, for a quick start Sat morning. If boating, you should get to your desired ramp early , then head for the social site (Forster Marina on the Sea side of the bridge, unless weather is inclement or advised otherwise), we will have it staffed from before daybreak so that late comers will be able to register. Roberta will be fishing the Forster Breakwall Only. She will be wearing a long sleeved blue denim shirt & probably wearing a wide brimmed hat with no top in it & running around like a chook with its head cut off! Any big fish hoping to take out the prize needs to be photographed with a recognised measure if released, or taken to a moderator for measuring & noting down the size if kept. What do you think - best tide will be first light! Shame to miss it! *************I suggest that we get straight into fishing from daybreak for an hour or two, then gather at the BBQs and tables in the park for breakfast at about 8.00am. If really hungry, take a meuslie bar or 2 to chew on in the mean time!! The fishing will go a bit quieter at this time with the rising tide, anyhow - so, good time for a break, a nibble & chat or a bit of a kip! Those preferring to eat whilst fishing, can do so! You can fish here for blackies all day - Tuncurry sometimes fishes better on the in tide, whereas Forster really suits the out tide!************* Only Fishraider members that have registered will be eligible for prizes. The organisers decision as to the winning entry is final , and no correspondance will be entered into. In the event that we have 2 identically sized fish , the two anglers names will be entered into a hat , and the winner drawn by the MC. Bring plenty of warm gear (& wet weather gear - hopefully not to use!) All boats must conform to Maritime Regulations , particularly safety vests for each person on board , a bucket , oars ( if only running one motor) , nav lights, waterproof torch, whistle or horn etc. As the fishing will be within the confines of the lake and it is very shallow at low tide - take great care when moving from one point to the next - Polaroids are essential to spot the shallows & channels. Please observe the 4 knot & no wash zones at all times. If tying up to leases etc, please be aware that they are someone's livliehood & should be respected as such - Do not damage any of the pylons. If asked to move on by the workers, please do so quickly. Those staying for longer than just the weekend, we will also have a go at beach worming, beach fishing and anything else that takes our fancy! We can even celebrate Xmas in June at a local eatery?? A get-together on Fri night at the Caravan Park 6pm for final tips & gear checkout, so you are ready to go first up on Sat morning - Roberta will also reveal her 2 most successful spots to fish! Most of all , bring along your sense of fun and your camera - we want all aspects of this social to be well documented!! Be competetive by all means , but remember that this is a social day , not a fishing comp as such. If anyone wants to add some ideas to this Social, please feel free to do so. If you have never fished a Social event, it is not too lat to put your name down as you will get to see some great fishing spots and also meet the very friendly and helpful members who make this site so GREAT. I know some of you can be a little shy and we cater for that by mingling with everyone on the weekend to make them feel welcome and part of all the activities. All the Mods & members are very approachable and are always willing to help out newcomers to these special occasions. If anyone is not sure what to do PM me or any of the Moderators and we will gladly help you out with any queries you may have Looking forward to seeing you all there , Cheerio Roberta Please do not post on this forum - this is for information only. Please use the Pinned Blackfishing Forster Social for posts
