Merries Reef / Shark Island

Hey guys,

Im going to go fishing at Merries reef or Shark Island for the first time tomorrow, and i was wondering if anyone can tell me what fish is should be targeting in that area.

Snapper, flathead, kingfish and general reefy stuff and have even heard of the odd jewie being caught in these places.

I went down to the hacking today but i didnt hit the reef ( im a new boat owner so im still learning the ropes and not 100% confident yet). Only went as far as Gibbon Beach... pleanty of small flathead around thats all.... though there were plenty of boats out past the heads.
