mrmoshe
Three men saved from stricken fishing boat THREE men aged in their 80s had to be rescued from a boat which was swamped by a large wave in Victoria's Western Port Bay early today. Water Police and coastguard vessels were aided by a police helicopter in the operation which swung into action when the men sent a radio distress call about 5am. The men were delivering the 11.5m fishing boat from Tasmania to Victoria when it began taking water about two nautical miles offshore. Sergeant Dave Jaensch from the Victoria Water Police said the men were safely transfered onto a police launch and the vessel was being towed into Western Port Bay. "They are all in their 80s and all experienced mariners," Sgt Jaensch told NEWS.com.au. "They're a little bit cold and wet but otherwise uninjured."
