choad Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I'm probably asking a basic question but here goes anyway.... How do you know how many hours a motors done? Am looking at used boats and would lilke to confirm what the seller says about number of hours. Engine is an etec (if that helps). Thanks in advance.
johnno Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Choad If it doesn,t have a hour meter i think the motor will keep a memory of this but will need a dealer to plug a laptop into it to check. I am not exactly sure but this was the case with many a BRP/seadoo jetski
a boat Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Good Morning Choad, it is very easy with an E-TEC to get engine hours and it is 100 percent accurate, not like other engines that have an hour meter, that can be easily disconnected and/or accidently left on. It takes about 2 minutes to plug in the laptop and not only get engine hours, but the RPM and Temp profiles of the engine and EMM to see if it has been mistreated in the use it has had. PM me if you want to us to give it a once over B4 you buy it, Cheers, Huey.
