New speed regulations under the harbour bridge will come into force tomorrow 01/08/07.

Here is an extract,

Ship and boat operators are being ordered to slow down, with a speed limit of 15 knots (about 28kmh) being imposed under the Sydney Harbour Bridge after a number of tragic collisions.

Vessels will also be banned from stopping or drifting under the bridge, which is one of the harbour's busiest stretches and one of its most dangerous.

Ports and Waterways Minister Joe Tripodi said the new rules would come into force tomorrow with the declaration of a safety transit zone 600 metres east of the bridge and 700 metres to the west.

The zone is represented by an imaginary line extending from Bennelong Point to Kirribilli Point in the east and an imaginary line extending from Millers Point to Blues Point in the west
