Davemmm
It seems it's all go in the Hacking at the moment between Grays pt ramp, audley weir and now the dredging has started again. For those that don't know every few years they dredge the main channel and dump the sand off Cronulla beach. This unfortunately leads to the area that has been dredged becoming an absolute fishing desert. I'm not sure if this is an urban myth but I have been told that the cause of the Hacking sanding up stems from sand grit mining years ago. Apparently the top layer of sand was sucked up over vast tracts of the river and essentially made the big sand bars unstable by removing all weed and sea grass. Does anyone know if this is true or is the hacking one of those rivers that just naturally clogs up? Dave
