Has anyone else heard about Groper being at Yarra Bay jetty in sufficient numbers to allow Kiwis to defy nature and actually catch them? If so we can all get down there with our snorkels on to take a few pictures and beat them to the punch coz they'd never be able to find a bottlo. Luringbream Posted October 15, 2007 Share Posted October 15, 2007 Jewgaffer, i have no idea what your on about..BUT danilo, mate groper show up in the weirdest spots some times so i wouldnt be surprised if your mate is telling the truth. Although it does sound a little odd catching them there, ive caught/seen them all over the place including various reef systems, under the harbour bridge and ive seen them cruising the pylons at darling harbour!!! Frizzy Posted October 15, 2007 Share Posted October 15, 2007 (edited) I'm assuming that the Yarra bay jetty is the groyne/breakwall. I wouldnt be suprised if groper didnt hang around there because it has an abundance of red rock crab. I used to catch my crabs there before heading out to the ocean ledges to fish for groper because it was alot safer and have caught a couple of red groper from that groyne some years back.
