Vanuatu Trip - Anybody Been There

Hello chaps,

I have booked a gamefishing trip with Oceanblue for January- I have read with interest advice for the Fiji trip. I have chartered 2 gameboats for 5 nights with an additional 2 nights in a Port Villa resort for recovery. There is myself and 7 degenerates (no chicks allowed) for fishing and socialising  drinkerthon for a week - tough I know.

Question : Has anybody been there and fished with these guys, Sho-gun and V-factor (34 black watch's)??

Our targets are Blue Marlin, YFT, Dogtooth Tuna and on the off days, GT's.

Interested in your experiences and how the skippers have treated and respected your requests for targets.

Cheers,

Rabs

I hope to record some great photo's/video that I will post for everybody's enjoyment.

I was there back in 1998 and fished twice with them in there 5.5m cairns custom craft dont know if they still have it they did have two blackwatches as well at the time shogun was one of them

All we did is troll the marlin highway for marlin after a couple of laps around the fad I wanted to do some light tackle fishing but it didnt happen

Did get a 600lb black as well as mahi mahi rainbowrunner stripies and jellybean yellowfin these smaller fish were not much fun on standup 24kg

They have expanded there fishing into a lot of other types now where before it was mostly trolling for marlin and live aboard trips where they will chase dogtooth

I love vanuatu and have been hanging to get back there again its a great place

Thanks for the tip. We are staying off the boats in fishing bungalows on the opposite side of the island to Port Vila. 600lb black is a nice start. I would be wanting to live bait those jellybeans that's for sure. Of the reading/video's etc the fishery has expanded from those days.

Merry Xmas.

Hey Rabs, fished with v factor earlier this year. We caught plenty of wahoo and dropped a blue marlin at the boat. If you dont have a good time fishing Vanuatu then there is something wrong with you. Best food we found were local beef and the food stalls in the markets at port vila. We went to the seamounts about 40 miles offshore. Amazing fishery. Sore arms at the end of the day. Good luck and safe travels, A.T.

AT,

Thanks for the feedback. I hope to come home with my knuckles dragging along ground. I am like the kids waiting for Santa to arrive - how many sleeps till we go??? Have a great Xmas.

Cheers,

Rabs.
